Lots of misses tackles. The Boks are a very weak defensive team. They have been so for several years now.

Our tackle percentages so far: 80% (Sc), 87% (Rom), 87% (Ire).
Our worst was Scotland, where a few players dropped the ball on defense. Willemse, Libbok, PSDT missed 3 each, Arendse, DDA, Kitshoff missed 2 each.
87% is a solid average in test matches. Libbok and Faf were the two weakest links against Ireland with 7 misses between them and DDA 2 again.
There are many tackles that qualify for stats that lack punch. We aren't strong on the line.
We're one of the teams leaking the least tries in this RWC...points on the board or lack of points scored against you kinda one of the more important stats being ignored here.
77% tackling the past two seasons, as per BBC. We're one of the worst defensive teams in the top 10. We finished bottom of the all time bad RC. Some of many facts being ignored by the Church of Erasputin, ruler of the most mediocre era of Bok rugby.
I measure defence by tries concede rather than tackles missed...different story in that...clearly some stats don't give proper context...
I measure defence by defensive production. That's where we part ways.
One has to be fair and remember that that we're starting with what would normally be reserves.
Meaning that on average the Boks probably have less game time man for man than teams that are "settled".
