Will the Irish suffer a famine of points?
Will the Irish suffer a famine of points?
Or mashed potatoes?
Famine jokes?
Ex-Does, you say the Boks defence and attack is not in the top 10 teams in the world, but you expect them to beat the top ranked team in the world???
The Irish start as favourites, but the Boks are ranked number 2 in the world - so it going to be close
Enjoy the game oaks. I hope it is a game unmarred by injuries and bad reffing.
Go Bokke!
And thuggery, just saying
Let's hope it's not all thuggery and that we at least see some skillful
back play.
We're going to see some tractoring and burrowing, don't worry.
With Delande, we can always be sure some tractoring near the ruck will happen.
No doubt Delande will try prove he is able to carry the whole Irish team on his back.
Ooh, animated team lineups. Gee this technology, hey?
Sexton is about to find out.
I would not wanna be him tonight.
John Smit and Jean De Villiers both are confident that the Boks will take it through with shear power and attrition (but no plan B), but if the Irish can take this maybe a contrasting different approach of Irish line speed could counter a different result. The SA
squad was announced early, maybe a good tactic but the side announced by Ireland remained more or less the same, unmoved.Should be interesting contrast in approach and could go either way.
Boks in their Checkers slaapbroekies.
VisKop, we agree on almost nothing.
But when it comes DDA, I'm right there with you.
The Irish have the fastest ruck ball in the world at around 3 seconds. It gives them continuity in their attack
If Ireland can get a handy lead they can dictate the style of play.
Gee 2 bok greats picking the Boks, who would have thought it.
Duane Vermuelen sitting in the coaching box, next to Rassie
Trademark Faf pass! Poor Kolbe!
Eh, not a good start. Kolbe knocks a sketchy pass from Faf.
Early penalty Ireland and they go for the lineout instead of the 3.
And cock it up and the Boks now threatening.
Steph getting nailed with a shoulder it seems. Could be trouble for Ireland if that is referred.
Okay not shoulder, just a shove.
Anyone else getting the feed glitch and goes back 20 seconds every so often. Tried several feed and doing the same thing. Happened in the england game as well.
Libbok penalty, 3-0.
Ireland struggling in the lineout, terrible throw
Irish lineot throws missing the lineout.
Ireland have been the better team so far. Their lineouts have lost them points
Spuds look bloody good on the ball! Hearts racing here!
Another overthrow in the lineout. Gonna be a long night for Ireland if they can't win attacking set pieces like that.
Super attack Ireland, Keenan 2
Does this ref actually know the rules????
Ireland not getting the scrums right either, penalty Boks.
No audio on the feed so can't hear what he's penalizing for.
Irish steal Bok breakdown ball then knock it.
Willemse looks threatening. Need to play through him.
We're cutting a fine line here with ref calls. Need more attitude on the line.
Terrible long slow pass from Faf to Arendse, Ireland wins the penalty.
Yeah that was a good Willemse break.
Irish are going to rue not scoring in the first 20.
And now penalty Boks at the breakdown. Stop-starty stuff.
Ringrose meets DA and regrets it.
So close!
Good work Eben in charging the scrumhalf. Boks have a lineout 15 out. Sorry Ireland throw and they mess it up again.
Is this the DDA Saffex has been talking about?
Not really. Little bump in a poor angle tackle.
If Ireland don't fix the line out and handling they are toast
This is what I said, they won't have the composure. They won't close out a result.
Good burrow DA, Boks lose it on the line, handbags. DA does look like he's actually hitting more than 3rd gear tonight.
Mind you if the Boks don't take advantage of Ireland's errors
it could bite them
Well the Boks really messed up a scoring chance there with the Kriel offload going to Ireland via Kolisi's head.
The Irish lineout is horrendous
.
Not too happy with the blunt running of Damian or Libbok. Kolisi hasn't been good.
Good escape for Ireland, they'll feel good about not conceding
Another knock Boks. Arendse clearly taken in the air a bit earlier, not blown.
Can't say either side is covering themselves in glory. Ireland set pieces terrible, Bok error rate high.
Irish scrums are
ok DB.
Bok defence is poor! Need to keep it high up field.
Aki straight through. No immediate support. Ireland on the 22 but their attack looks a but lost suddenly.
Irish score....Great try.
Irish scrums are ok DB.
Yeah fair enough, few penalties and free kicks early on but it looks to have settled.
Well worked try Ireland. Willemse shooting inside instead of staying on his man.
Stephanie gives away a penalty, lying on the wrong side
Arendse drops the high ball.
Ireland look a lot more settled, Boks on the back foot at the moment
Breakdown penalties are preventing the Boks moving through phases. Marxis missed, and not having Vermuelen on the pitch could be a mistake.
Leroux will be missed later on in the game once it opens up more. I would have had Leroux on the bench and Vermuelen starting.
Breakdown penalty Ireland. Bok long passes to get to
Halftime, 7-3. Not much in it, both sides making lots of errors but momentum definitely switching to Ireland in the last 10 there.
Jessie Kriel may be good in the Bok defence system, but he offers little on attack
Kriel's stupidity and DDA's missed tackles...cost us a swing of 14 points.
The Boks would have scored had Kriel not chucked the ball into Kolisi's face.
They'd not have scored that try if DDA could actually stop his opposite number.
I take what I said about DDA back. I wish he wasn't on the field. Same goes for Kriel.
Only a couple of Irish in the bar watching, so go the Boks lol
At least we have some fetchers coming on now and won't be relying on Arendse to turn ball over.
Kolisi, Damian, Libbok, Steph... poor. Some good work by Willemse early. Need to get him more into the game
Ireland dominating the stats apart from losing 5 of their own lineouts.
Tactics in second half will be very interesting.
DDA's little kick for touch in their 22...you could actually see how slowly his brain works when he got the ball.
I swear he changed expression about 3 times as his phenomenally dysfunctional grey stuff tried to decide what to do.
I cannot stand him. I really can't. AE would have been all over their 12.
There can be little doubt that our best centre pairing isn't on the field tonight.
Blood pressure through the roof here!
Long range miss from Faf may work out for the Boks. Nope, they lift Eben and hold him up. Great work Lowe.
Kwagga to turn the game.
First scrum by the replacements looking strong.
Bok scrum try.
Ireland may croak in the scrums now. Yep, going backward right away with the replacement front row on.
Called it.
Great Try, Kolbe.
Boks to win by at least two scores.
How far ahead are you, just scored now
Try Kolbe, well worked with the scrum dominance.
Libbok wayward again, 8-7.
You need a decent kicker, he could cost you in the finals
Great jink by Willemse. Why are we not using him?
Flah Malherbe over extending. gives away a dumb penalty that will put Ireland back in front.
Why is Flab still on????
Ooh, scrum penalty Ireland.
Ja I thought the whole front row was replaced. Clearly need my eyes checked.
10-8, Ireland back in front
Dumbian the best 12 in the world. Class act. That's a fact!
DDA is retarded.
Another F up...knocks on a regulation catch and wastes more possession.
DA fast asleep at the wheel again. One strong run
Deus...I swear we need to start a fund to take a hit out on DDA.
Come on Boks, cut the bloody poor handling.
Great scrum
2 penalties missed by Libock. When he places the ball on the ground, he already looks like he is going to miss it.
Boks now get a scrum penalty.
Shit kick as expected.
Boks lucky with that call. Ref has been quite kind to us.
Faff missed....
And Faf is even worse
I guess the pink light from Rassie means Faf should take the kick
My pet peeve with refs. A ball falls and it's a knock on no matter what. Bad calls.
Willemse is a Superstar.
The best player in the Bok squad by a country mile
Hell Dues, you trying to upset pedobeeno on purpose?
DA stopping dead behind his line. Deer in the headlights.
Imagine what the game would have been if we had test quality half backs. Not just place kickers, but actual test quality half backs. We can still win though. And we will.
Ireland pilfers it to end the Bok attack.
Steph has no more intellect than Damian's left buttcheek.
Boks need Willie Leroux in the 2nd half at least
Bok
try again.
Great ball to RG. Steph drops it out wide.
Forget poles, go for the corner.
If mauls can't be reffed accurately, remove it. Ende.
Deon Fourie buggers up the lineout with a skew throw
Bok lineout 5. Skew throw.
Kriel having a li
Damian with the Touch for the 5m scrum!
Nykana just dropped to the floor, no wonder Faff got stripped
I also thought the droppie would be on, but it's a pretty poor one. Oh was there a touch? Whoops.
Is that 3 scrums that have early shoves, for x3 penalties
Pedobeeno spending the last 5 minutes to try
and find a contentious call to make blame the refs for bias.Somethings never change lol
Sauron commanding the Boks to kick at posts when the obvious choice...on multiple occasions, was to kick for touch and take the lineout.
Ireland didn't win this game...the Boks threw it away.
Horrendous performance.
Penalty Ireland.
Not over yet! Bok try!
Bet he says he was watching the under 10s boys tennis (which wouldn't surprise me the sick pedo)
13-8.
Here we go. Maul, penalty. Try.
I cant see how that was a turnover?
It looked like the ball was coming out.
Well done Ireland. Clearly a more settled side. Also, Boks pole kicking not good enough. Delande needs to be replaced by Pollard
Can't quite believe how that ended!
Ireland defends the maul and win.
Kicking cost you there big time.
Ben oh Fucking Keeeeef!!!
My god, Reinach had the ball in his hands and he calls the scrum from the maul.
As I said at the beginning, this knobhead doesn't know the the rules.
I cant see how that was a turnover?
It looked like the ball was coming out.
Yeah that looked dodgy.
De Allende is a Damn plank the should be put in the wood chipper.
How does anybody watch that game and still think he's better than AE?
Kriel just as bad.
Manie, my man, you can't be a Bok 10 if you miss regulation kicks.
"Kicking cost you there big time."
Yes, and your retarded ref.
Have to agree that looked out to me.
Is that you pedobeeno?
Thought he was very even over all.
We don't have a reliable place kicker. Then kick for posts when our lineout is our strongest weapon and Ireland's weakness.
We have the same dud midfield pairing that we already knew was a dud 6+ years ago.
We got nailed at the breakdowns because we have no one who can dominate there.
Willemse is the only back that looked dangerous.
Errors, errors, errors.
Thing is, he sees Reinach digging the ball out...makes no effort to change his angle and see how near Reinach is to the ball and makes a blind call.
Ridiculous.
Grand kids were visiting so I just caught the last two minutes. Looked like a hard fought game. Congrats to
Ireland!
Well if nothing else, the dream final is still on.
Think we'll see Pollard starting in the quarterfinal against France. Is it too much to hope he'll be in the #12 jersey?
Willemse is a fucking plank. How many times did he fuck up tonight. That try was clearly his fault.
Then, too busy tap dancing. The guy has blinkers.
Don't get me started with Dud, or cul da ball sac. Fuck he is useless and so is Kriel.
Kolisi was on a fucking holiday all game.
This reff was shite, calls a maul but did he forget the rules. You can't life a players leg let alone the player in the air.
Then Rassie, for god sake. Pick a bloody kicker. You had 4 years and Manie is clearly not ready. You could have kept Morne Steyn in the loop. Why pick two old timers in your pack but you don't have the best kicker in the country.
Even Goosen with one peg had the best stats in the URC.
But Rassie loves the media and gambling.
We should have won this game. 11 points wasted on regulation kicks
Very close game thanks to us missing so many kicks 11 points just slipped away. Some needless errors and the biased ref did the rest.
Ireland got a veryycky win.
So on we go. I think Rassie will have seen now what to work on.
Dont think this match much in the broader Scheme of things.
Was at a pals house so couldn't guide the oaks through the game.
Kriel offloads into Kolisi's head right on the line.
Aki breaks past Allende setting up eventual Ireland score.
Kriel runs inside the 22, gets tackled and rucked over.
Allende touches subsequent drop attempt. 5m scrum, Ireland penalty.
No surprise the two lads at the heart of the key moments running through our misfortune, by accident or design.
Boks had the chance in the first 20 to put this game away but failed,
Not sure how that's the refs fault
Yup, easy to ref bash. The boks wasted 11 points and had all the advantage.
Poor backline / attack coach. Quota
Super defensive mind set.
There is no real coach. Is it Rassie or is it Nienaber .
We don't know who our first team is.
I hope they go with the team that played against the all black minus Manie and Willemse
Steph, Libbok, Faf, Kolisi, even Mostert at times. It wasn't good. We don't have great players at our core. It showed.
Willemse and Snyman were the best Boks Korn.
Well everything went according to plan tonight. We know know most of the Irish Game Plan - not all but most - and we avoid each other in the Quarter Finals and meet in the Finals. What a Test Match. Amazing. Boks were amazing but I did not want you to win - big picture here.
Boks were amazing...ly bad, Hackwa.
Great match...
Come on DEL, we know you will bring your A Game against France. Don't disappoint us. We will see you in the finals.
Don't count your chickens. Italy to beat New Zealand and the Boks to have a surprise trip to the finals as Scotland beat Ireland. Heard it here first
That's the spirit DEL. Beeno what do you think of this False Prophet?
Boks were amazing...ly bad, Hackwa.
Seriously I don't know if you watched the same match or you are used to watching 7s rugby. It was clearly the two best teams in the world going hammer and thong. As expected, there was nothing between the two teams (I think the last 5-6 six times we played there has been less than 8 point wins).
I laughed when I read about the 11 points left on the pitch. Two penalties were from inside your half and even the best kickers in the world mostly miss. They were hail Marys. Both teams had opportunities and made mistakes. We should have taken the points in the first penalty and our line out was a disaster. We score the majority of our tries off lineouts inside the 22. We have Sheehan back now and normal service will resume. We made a lot of mistakes in the first 20 minutes until we got settled in. So Pollard will make a difference when he comes back but we will be better too.
Both teams have room to improvement. I think there is a good chance we will meet in the finals now that Du
pont is out for France. He is a huge loss and is the best player in the world. France were my favorites to win the world cup.If we do both reach the finals I expect it will be similar to this one. A brutal, physical close match with nothing between the two teams. Thanks for a great match and best of luck in the rest of the competition.
The autopsy of film review will reveal something far worse. It was an ugly game. This was a matter of Ireland having to overcome the Bok's spoiling tactics, throwing them off rhythm. They succeeded. This was nothing close to the second best team in world rugby. The Boks looked clueless, dumb, lacking a hard edge, skills, and looked very poorly coached. All Ireland needed to be was average with accuracy at key moments. That's all that is needed to beat one of the worst Bok sides that has ever been.
That's all that is needed to beat one of the worst Bok sides that has ever been.
The three best teams in the world right now are Ireland, SA and France and not in that particular order. There is nothing but a bounce of a ball between them. Injuries and luck will decide who wins the World cup. This is a better, more balanced SA team than 4 years ago and I don't like criticizing peoples views on these forums but if you think this is the worst Bok side that has ever been then you must have started watching rugby yesterday. They deserve respect for the performance today. Certainly Ireland deserve more respect that calling that performance average. No other team in the world would have kept up with the pace and intensity with the
exception of France.Well done guys, thank you for my raised blood pressure.
Thanks Boorad, and congrats on the win...Lemur has a few blind spots...
". . .but if you think this is the worst Bok side that has ever been then you must have started watching rugby yesterday."

The big game is almost upon us, and the atmosphere is building nicely. The mood with most people I've spoken to is that the Boks will surely prevail. The Boks have not lost to the Irish three successive tests since 2004 to 2009. We have also never played them in a World Cup. The Irish are a solid side, but can they face the Boks in a decisive encounter in a World Cup? I don't think they will. We'll soak up their pressure enough, and with our speed nab a try or two to break their resolve. Games between the two seldom ever end by 7 or more points separating the teams, but I feel that this game is going to see the Boks pull away. The Irish will escape the group, but they'll do so with a bloody lip. This will be the catalyst for the Boks tightening their game.
