That is what could be heard here and there.

For it to be, SA rugby should play rugby which is not the case.

On the other hand, the guy is politically able. Rugby is a highly political game and the head coach knows how to play his cards well.

His antics over reffing ensured SA rugby were able to go through red and yellow card offenses uncarded and unreviewed.

Most crucially, rugby is often blamed for being boring, and regularly ranked as such by sports fans. The rugbyworld has always been trying to change the perception, altering rules to make the game more appealling.

SA rugby play the opposite, they have degraded the game to a point it is barely rugby by focusing on negating the other team's efforts to play rugby.

This allows them to come at games with swappable players at positions, the requirements are so low no specialist is needed.

SA rugby could not even name a first team line up. Players do not need team cohesion, they do not need to spend extensive spells together as the team work is reduced to minimum.

To be compared to other teams that have prepared over years, getting players to work and play as a team.

This is the political move. SA rugby are aware that while other teams could do the same, reduce more and more the requirements, the option only exists on paper.

In effect, they can not as all teams approaching the rugby game as SA rugby would kill it and make it irredeemedly boring.

Only one spot for one team to reject the rugby game and SA rugby is clinging to it.

Rugby is a boring game, teams are committed to change the perception, except SA rugby that use it as a political advantage.
