Sharks opening nicely and looking well drilled.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:19

Hendrikse has a serious boot

Jan 11, 2025, 16:26

To-lose is playing to win apparently. 7-0

Jan 11, 2025, 16:26

And now they were one or two decent offloads away from another possible score.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:30

Ludicrous penalty by one of the most incompetent refs

Jan 11, 2025, 16:31

Another error-ridden game.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:33

Nice handling by Toulouse and it all goes astray the moment ou Anton gets fancy with a backhander.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:36

Great break by Jordan and again the ball is just thrown away in a 50/50 offload.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:37

I know offloading is the Big Thing in rugby now, but I think it's responsible for far more errors than anything constructive. Big contributor to the stop-start nature of modern games.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:39

Who is this guy playing 9 for Toulouse?

He's a bit good ;)

Jan 11, 2025, 16:40

Bottle out by Ntmack.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:40

The phase play has been decent, Pakie.

Toulouse have great hands

Jan 11, 2025, 16:41

Great hands when they pass, it's the offloads going to ground.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:42

Why are the Saaks refusing to clear their lines!!!???

Kick the damn ball!

Jan 11, 2025, 16:43

Jordan spills it in contact right in front of his line but fortunately Toulouse just kick it away.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:43

Toulouse are just putting them in their 22 and waiting for them to make a mistake.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:47

That looks like a possible neck injury…commentators ignoring it.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:48

Finally Stransky says he moves his arms and legs…

Jan 11, 2025, 16:51

Saaks still in their 22

Hi Moz

And TL get a penalty from a Saaks scrum...in their 22

Touch saves the Saaks from a kick pass try.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:51

What’s happened to the Sharks scrum….maybe Mostert was the real deal

Jan 11, 2025, 16:52

No need for the kick pass….the wing is right…..Stransky droning on about how it was the right option.

Jan 11, 2025, 16:52

Hendrikse has such a massive boot but the Sharks seem allergic to clearing from their 22

Jan 11, 2025, 16:55

Hendrikse can tackle…would Libbok ever put down a tight forward like that

Jan 11, 2025, 16:56

If the Frogs don’t score before the half the mo could change

Jan 11, 2025, 16:58

Sharks still in their 22

I really don't get it.

Hendrikse has a massive boot.

But the Sharks keep putting themselves under pressure with a slippery ball by trying to run it from their own 22.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:00

K@k ref.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:00

Sharks are lucky it's only 10-3.

Feel like it should be 20-3

Jan 11, 2025, 17:02

Lucky Ramos didn’t kick like this at the WC.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:06

He did...Kolbe isn't playing today.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:07

Honestly...the Sharks are not winning the field possession and the right to run, but they seem to only want to run.

It's humid, slippery and they just refuse to kick.

Hendrikse hasn't impressed me with his game management but he has a serious boot.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:17

Lol if you read my commentary then you don't need to watch the half time discussion...

They said the Sharks should be losing 20-3 and their failure to clear their lines is costing them.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:19

Hak hak Snarks is ...

Hope the can turn it around...where is Eben?

Jan 11, 2025, 17:25

Sharks immediately start with a short hoist out of their 22, straight to Tolose, who is now hot on attack.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:26

Anton dePomp knocks on. And again the Sharks kick it to Tolose.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:27

Beautiful behind the back from Ramos and Tolose score. What are the Sharks doing? Having defense practice?

Jan 11, 2025, 17:28

Ramos the sniper makes it 20-3

Jan 11, 2025, 17:29

The Sharks keep kicking to contest.

They need to kick territory

Jan 11, 2025, 17:29

Tolose on the other hand clears deep when under pressure and now they're just outside the Sharks 22.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:31

Hooker penalized for a high tackle. What a nonsense call.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:31

And they're back in their 22.

The Sharks are being treated like kids here

Jan 11, 2025, 17:32

Hendrikse to clear their lines with a penalty now.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:34

Finally a deep clearance from the Sharks. Maybe the penny has dropped.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:34

Davids kills the momentum by kicking it directly out

Jan 11, 2025, 17:35

Sharks first a poor pass to kill their momentum, then the scrummie boots it directly our from halfway.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:36

Sharks need a try very soon if they have any hopes of winning this game

Jan 11, 2025, 17:38

Very smart play by Tolose. Right back on the Sharks line again.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:39

They lose their lineout but Tolose knocks to get them out of jail.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:40

Good clearance and the Sharks are back in Tolose territory.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:41

Mapimpi rips Anton DePomp.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:42

Sharks has no exit game. Not using the boot smart enough. Trying to run everything against a superior french team with better hands and shape

Jan 11, 2025, 17:43

Nah, I've had enough

Jan 11, 2025, 17:43

Toulouse winning the tactical kicking game and winning more 50/22

Jan 11, 2025, 17:44

Tolose happy to just kick the Sharks back into their own zone.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:45

What is saving the Sharks now is that Tolose keeps knocking on and handing them back possession.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:46

More handling errors form the Sharks now.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:48

Sharks need to get their minds right. Try are getting chances but a little too frantic

Jan 11, 2025, 17:49

Sharks are losing this because of decision making.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:52

Julius looks very good. How the heck is he not starting!

Jan 11, 2025, 17:52

Julius scores, nice try.

Jan 11, 2025, 17:52

What play by Julius. Why did they not start with Hooker and Julius.

Saffex will not stop going on about this. But amazing support lines, line break, passing and finishing off what he started

Jan 11, 2025, 17:57

Sharks side has lots of potential.

Need Eben back.

Jan 11, 2025, 18:02

What play by Julius. Why did they not start with Hooker and Julius.

Player rotation most likely.

Jan 11, 2025, 18:08

I just watched the second half. I the basis of what I saw the Sharks were in this match.

Jan 11, 2025, 18:12

Kwotalisi with other quotas were invisible all game. They full back for Fassi was useless, Buthelezi hardly made an impact.

I do think the sharks need a world class coach with all of their money and yet they can't string wins together.

Mpimpi and Bongi showed their age today.

Hendrikse was half asleep today with poor kicks.

Really poor performance by the Saarks.

To Lose played better with ball in hand. Expect the Saarks to be use to playing in humidity

Jan 12, 2025, 08:12

That was painful.m to watch. Sure Toulouse are a good side, but the Sharks were aweful.

That scoreline was very flattering.

Mapimpi is supposed to be a Bok...but he's trying to run the ball from his in-goal area?

The conditions were so slippery, and the Sharks just kept trying to play from deep within their territory even though they never look liked like breaking out.

Hendrikse, with that massive boot, should have been under strict instructions to keep Toulouse out of his 22. But he didn't. They kept running, they kept losing the ball and it was only errors from Toulouse that prevented an embarrassing margin.

I think something like 70% of the first half happened inside the Sharks 22.

...like, how is that even possible?

Terrible game management and there was a clear lack of leadership on the field. The Sharks look completely clueless for large swathes of that game.

Jan 12, 2025, 10:11

Ja, and poor Ox got folded in half several times. He is the world's number 1 prop.

Looks like his form is dropping or other props want to prove something. Not the first game that it happened to him.

Doesn't look these players know how to play as unit. Not sure if there are too many cultures or ego in the team. Every black just want to run with the ball, no matter what.

Baas Rassie would have told them not to do that. He would be on them all the time. He would told Mpimpi kick the ball. Don't run put pressure on the catcher.

To think they have a bok pack in Ox, Bongi, Koch, Kolisi and the Tsesuka who could be capped soon and they can't dominate the frogs up front.

Then they have the boks 9 with his brother. They have journeyman at 12 in Venter and a former bok that I don't get why the keep picking him. He does nothing. Hooker is a prospect but his position is 12. Mpimpi on the wing with some no name full back that was awful for the junior boks and now he starts for the Saarks because he is black.

He needs a few more games to develop.

The match tactics was awful.

I just don't think plumbers have what it takes to lead a squad like this.

He is barely a kiwi assistant coach let alone a coach that can take a team like the Saarks

Jan 12, 2025, 11:29

The Sharks, good on paper but rudderless on the field….no clear leadership when Eben is absent.

Kollisi? He is clearly only a leader, when the support group is around him.

Jordan is supposed to direct things more as a good 10?? Looks lacking in that department .

Kade Wolhuter and Jurie Matthee is better at directing in the Pivot position.

Even Manie directs better and that says a lot….

Maybe Plumtree is not the answer, but his players besides Eben, Esterhuisen, Hooker, Julius, Ox, Hanro, Rahl, Gerbrandt, is Not helping much.

Jan 12, 2025, 13:05

I had the distinct feeling that they were under orders to run as much as possible and try to tire the Frenchies out.

There is no way Jordan would be happy to run from his try line over and over.

But after being pegged in your half for 20 minutes, one would think that the captain would step in and demand more territorial play.

Saying that, Jordan had a good game. He took it to the line well, and was kicking very well when he did kick. Far more powerful than Manie, a bigger boot, more accurate from the tee and a better defender. What I didn't t like from him was the perpetual offloads that lost possession. He tries to do a touch too much.

Jan 12, 2025, 13:23

Yes he is in a way the way you describe him, but even at the Lions and playing for the Boks, it seems he is lacking crucial Decision making skills.

Like you said he didn’t make those important choices to put his team on the front foot.

His territorial game is not up to standard, obvious in allowing the Frenchies to farm in Sharks half.

And that happened for extended periods of time and the bell never went of in his head ?

Compare Manie and the stormers game , where the WP had better territory gain all game long.

Jan 12, 2025, 18:58

The Sharks have depth in the players in the squad but I am concerned that some of the selections and team leadership is falling far short of the mark.

The reputed 17 million that the Sharks spent to get  "Singing Kaptein" back was a complete waste of money on a player who is over the hill.

Plumtree has been a failure this time around with the Sharks and needs to join The Bulls coach as a spectator.
