Scotland's squad dynamics are undergoing a forced shuffle as Gregor Townsend, the team's head coach, announces significant changes ahead of their Autumn Nations Series clash against Argentina. The alteration comes as a blow with winger Arron Reed sidelined for the remainder of the series due to a quad injury, alongside other key players missing out due to health concerns.

Reed, a promising talent from Sale Sharks, remains capped at four as injuries prevented his participation against the USA and New Zealand earlier this month. The recent 25-17 defeat to the All Blacks has Scotland eager to bounce back, but they'll have to do it without Reed and others.

Joining Reed on the sidelines are Rory Sutherland and Murphy Walker. Sutherland is out with a concussion, while Walker heads back to Glasgow Warriors. Their absence paves the way for Jamie Bhatti and Will Hurd, the latter rejoining the squad after a shoulder recovery, to step into the fray.

Zander Fagerson stays in the mix, continuing his return to full fitness, which is a sliver of good news for the Scots. The squad also sweats on the fitness of standout fly-half Finn Russell, who suffered a knee and an ankle injury in the game against New Zealand. Townsend provided an update on Russell's condition, expressing cautious optimism.

"His knee was the initial injury. I thought he was outstanding even though he had that knee strain. The reason we took him off was because he had an ankle issue too. He doesn't think it'll be serious, but it's obviously too early to say,"

Townsend explained.

The reassembled squad list reflects the adjustments, with a mix of seasoned players and newcomers ready to step up. The forwards include Ewan Ashman, Josh Bayliss, Jamie Bhatti, Magnus Bradbury, Gregor Brown, Scott Cummings, Rory Darge, Jack Dempsey, Matt Fagerson, Zander Fagerson, Grant Gilchrist, Patrick Harrison, Will Hurd, Nathan McBeth, Elliot Millar Mills, Andy Onyeama-Christie, D’Arcy Rae, Dylan Richardson, Fin Richardson, Jamie Ritchie, Alex Samuel, Pierre Schoeman, Marshall Sykes, George Turner, and Max Williamson. In the backs are Fergus Burke, Jamie Dobie, Darcy Graham, Adam Hastings, George Horne, Rory Hutchinson, Tom Jordan, Blair Kinghorn, Stafford McDowall, Kyle Rowe, Finn Russell, Ollie Smith, Kyle Steyn, Sione Tuipulotu (captain), Duhan van der Merwe, and Ben White.

As Scotland regroups and refocuses, the upcoming test against Argentina will be a crucial moment to turn the tide and salvage pride in a challenging Autumn Nations Series.
