In a bid to claw their way out of the basement, Sharks coach JP Pietersen has shaken up his lineup for Friday's showdown against Western Province at Kings Park, in a match-up of Currie Cup cellar-dwellers. Both teams are desperate for their inaugural win of the season, making this clash a high-stakes affair.

The Sharks are making waves with six fresh faces and a crucial positional swap. Jaco Williams says goodbye to his brief stint as fullback, zipping back to his familiar wing spot, allowing Hakeem Kunene to reclaim the No. 15 jersey. The backline sees further tweaks as Jean Smith steps in at flyhalf, sending Vusi Moyo to the bench, and Phikolomzi "PK" Sobahle replaces Christie Grobbelaar on the right wing.

"We're injecting some fresh energy and ideas into our gameplay. It's about finding that winning formula,"

Pietersen commented on the changes.

The forward pack isn't left untouched either. Liam van Wyk is set to hook in place of Bryce Calvert, while Le Roux Coetzee steps into the second row for Gideon Koegelenberg. Open side flank sees Tino Mavesere jumping in ahead of Matt Romao, signaling a clear intent to revamp their approach to the breakdowns and defensive lines.

This rejigging extends to the bench as well, where fresh legs and eager minds await their chance to turn the tide for the Sharks. The reserves bench features the likes of Willem van den Hever and Phiwayinkosi Kubheka, ready to inject more vigor into the game as needed.

As the Sharks and Western Province both look to break their winless streak, the atmosphere at Kings Park promises to be electric. With both teams hungry for victory and willing to bet on their young talents, this match could very well be a turning point in their seasons.
