Wouldn’t it be better to take the pain ASAP? That being said it really doesn’t look like Rassie is in any rush to Rebuild quickly.
By listening to his interviews he wants to carry on with the older core as long as what he possibly can and that his major rebuilding will only start next year in all seriousness.
We saw major signs of Form drop and general fatigue by the older players, in the second test vs Ireland .
Look at all the injuries we have with the guys just not that young anymore and can’t handle the impacts like they use to .
So this is a problem yes and I don’t really understand how Rassie wants to go about doing this…. I would just move on now and only keep the guys from the original core, that has above average chance of Making WC 27.
The rest I would all fire and give out new contracts to my choice of Young guns. This way you can start building with them immediately.
HM’s side which lost to NZ in WC 2015 vs the side Eluckmiss fielded last weekend, almost 9 years later.
6 players over 30 vs 13 for Eluckmiss
3 players under 30/but over 25 vs 2 for Eluckmiss
6 players below 25 vs 0 for Eluckmiss.
Number of players in that same HM team who played against Ireland on Saturday….6.
Now perhaps Clever you can stop lying about HM’s ‘old team’ and focus on the geriatric team Eluckmiss shows no sign of renewing. And thank HM for his gift to Springbok rugby that carried us
through two WCs.
The team selected to play Portugal is a joke.
Shocking selection indicating no plans for the future.
Rassie is on record saying the majority of the WC side will not be at the next WC and that new players will be brought in which will result in speed bumps along the way
There is enough of a core of younger players with tests caps behind them to start building a new side
The core will be primarily Willemse, Arendse, Moodie, Libbok, Williams, Jantjies, Ox, RG and Wiese and capped players like Gelant, Fassi, Edwill, Hendrikse , Sacha, Hendrikse, Gerhard Steenkamp, Mchunu, Wilco, Thomas, Dweba, Moerat, Jenkins, Elrigh Louw, JL du Preez, Dan du Preez and Roos
That’s 26 players plus some youngsters being capped on Saturday like Wessels, Grobelaar, AH Venter, Buthelezi, Ben Jason Dixon, Ruan Venter, vd Bergh and Horn
So to say that youngsters are not being looked at is a joke
I’m saying the youngsters are in many cases oldsters…Pollard was 21 at the RWC in 2015 and a test veteran. Libbok is already 27 with only failure on his resume.
That’s just your usual list packed with guys who are going nowhere like Gelant, the Deysel twins, Moerat and Jenkins.
The joke is a team in which 2 players are under 30.
And there are plenty on that list who will be the core of our team moving forward
The fact that you think that of Jenkins and co I take with a pinch of salt as you don’t know the players
Well of course Libbok was not going to take Pollard out and saying he is a failure is a complete lie. Kicking for poles does not define a player just ask Pollard in that first Irish test
There are some good youngsters being looked at like Hendrikse, Sacha, Wessels, AH Venter, Roos, Elrigh Louw, Buthelezi, vd Bergh, Moodie, Hooker, Hanekom etc
The new core of players should also be Fine tuned as a Ruben v H, Nortje, Ruan vermaak, Adre smirh etc. is not present there…then we also have Guys like David Kriel and Rikus that should be there….not so sure if the Du Preez Brothers, Moerat, Dweba, Jenkins and Mchunu is word class players. Moerat has had chances but failed completely at making his mark….same category as a Orie. We have to build with only the best .
I counter all that JENKINS nonsense with one name..the Quince. Libbok was awful in the match against Glasgow and in the prior year final….no backbone..
Sure there are some good youngsters amongst the chaff, will Eluckmiss pick them against the ABs?
The point is, some amalgam of youngsters cobbled together hastily are lambs to the slaughter without a game plan they can understand. What the hell do we expect of a new 12….that he be a robot running into the first defender?
Now that we are in this quandary do we have to clarify our prospective style before we know who will fit that style?
By contrast Ireland’s game plan needs no tinkering and new players like Osborne are an immediate fit. Eluckmiss has to have sensed the difference that intelligent coaching has made. How a player like O’Mahony could be set aside despite being captain. And youngsters could immediately make team contributions vs the individual brilliance of Sacha.
The genius has his hands full.
There's also Rassie's favoritism to contend with besides his poor selections. But what's happened to the dumb idea of throwing newbies into the deep end as he did in that infamous test against Wales last year and then adding justification for doing so after the unsurprising loss.
Ja, I have to agree there's a touch of Biden about him
Select the used by date's to play the AB's and we will lose but not only that, we'll also lose the opportunity to give the new brigade exposure and experience. And I tell you what if we play Z grade Oz with the oldies and lose or struggle to win then we'll hit zero gain back to the start.
I'm not
getting my hopes up.
Give me a break Osborne only played because the incumbent Irish fullback chose to play 7’s in the Olympics
Sacha looked far more impressive with ball in hand than Osborne did
As for Jenkins like I said you know fuck all
Yes the new 12 will be doing exactly what our current 12’s do which is exactly what Aki, Tuilagi, Kerevi etc do
Your notion of a current test 12 is so out of date it’s laughable
If the Irish don’t change their game plan they will become easy pickings
Too late, the Irish have made their point….Eluckmiss knows this, even if you don’t.
Huh?

It had 13 players over 30 years old, 2 players who were 28…..the youngsters in the team. Has any international side ever been older.
Clearly a massive revamp of our team will be necessary in the next 3 years. We might be starting the next WC with less than 5 players who have played in a WC. Most of the ‘younger’ players in their early thirties are backs….who typically lose pace and don’t survive as long.
We are already past the point where this can be corrected without some pain….the question is when do we want to take it. Or is the implosion likely to be so bad that it’s better just to play out the string and accept the subsequent plunge.
This has the look of a major pronlem
