Powerful team, this team should beat the wobblies, but the yellow boys seem to be a slippery banana peal in Brisbane for the boks.

Also, really interesting to see what Sacha can do and what will happen with Manie.

What will Dobbo do now that Sasha is seen as a 10?

Aug 06, 2024, 10:20

It’s good but could be better. Nice to see Sacha starting

Not sure why Reinach is starting ahead of Williams - let’s move on from the 34 year old

Same applies to Koch on the bench - Thomas du Toit offers so much more.

Not sure why we have to have two opensides in Kwagga and v Staaden on the bench - I don’t get the investment in v Staaden he is at best solid, nothing dynamic about him.

I guess they see more impact coming from him than a specialist lock like Moerat on the bench. We really need to be investing in the next lock on the bench and for me the obvious would have been Ruben v Heerden but like a few others he has not cracked the squad yet

I would have started Marx and had Am ahead of Kriel. Also tempted to start Fassi ahead of Willie - we need to move on from Willie but we kind of need the vision Willie brings - it’s a hard one

Aug 06, 2024, 10:25

Thanks Rooinek

My predictiion in most cases was supported by the above selections.

My key comment was about Feinberg Ngomesulu and Pollard  usage is spot on.   The fact that Damian Willemse is not available yet has impacted on Willie le Roux playing - if Willemse was available Le Roux would not be considered for selection.

After te poor display by De Klerk in the Irish tests I think we may not see him in future and it is clear that Reinach is not  a long term investment.

On the ebnch I like the invetment in Steenekamp and Dixon and Kwaga being a bench player is the real and practiccal approach.   The latter is wasted as a starter.   The one player I do not support is Van Staden,   The latter is not a test level player,

Agree, why have 2 loosies? Oh, yes, Kolisi can't last more than 40 min. They need a backup at lock and another back up on the back row. Think Elrich will play the entire game. That guy has got an incredible engine, and so does PSDT, but we need to manage him because he is our best player.

Might see him go to lock

Etzebeth is about a 60 min player too these days.

Aug 06, 2024, 11:09

A Pleasant surprise in Sacha starting and very Happy for Elrigh.

I agree on Am starting for Jessica, it’s like day and night. Also with Sacha starting, we need creativeness in the midfield to feed of Sacha,s play making skills.

Both centre choices are Robots. Hopefully Willie does not get concussed and can add the creative spark and to counteract the Dumb muscle twins.

Ruben V Heerden should be in the squad instead of Moerat …do not understand why Rassie does not do that??

Koch stands stronger at TH than Tank. Fuck I hope Wilco gets his chance vs the AB but we need to move on from the old guys, so I would have also gone with Thomas.

He struggled a bit in the beginning against that 38 year old LH from Portugal, but stood great as the game progressed.

Ben J Dixon is a good line out jumper and Pieter is also there, to cover for lock I suppose…Don’t actually understand the inclusion of van Staden??

Hoping for a good win. Go Bokke!

Aug 06, 2024, 11:58

Bullshit does Koch stand stronger at TH in the scrums than Thomas - that is based on what exactly? Certainly not his season for Bath and his test against Portugal - stop making shit up

Aug 06, 2024, 12:09

With 2 open sides loosies on the bench, it suggests the Boks are worried about the breakdown.
If the breakdown is poor, expect Kolisi to get yanked from the pitch quickly.

Kwagga is only an impact player, he has consistently proven he cant start.

SashaZulu is a good choice, interesting that he has been preferred over Pollard.

Reinach is solid, and more consistent than Faff. Perhaps they feel Smith will be stronger off the bench as an impact player. Surely this must be the last year for Reinach

Aug 06, 2024, 12:10

Yawn Sif

Aug 06, 2024, 14:28

Ten players over 30, Sacha the one bold move but Pollard is the insurance policy. Snyman and Ox will be 30 in a year or two.

This is the oldest team to start the three year WC cycle, with massive turnover needed before the next WC. But this is a great opportunity to win a RC playing both NZ games in RSA. The great change will start on the YE tour or next year.

Aug 06, 2024, 16:13

Reinach has a piss poor service with his few steps and a wind up before the delivery - his selection ahead of Williams is crap and shows no sign of moving on.

Same applies to Koch vs Thomas

We could have had the in form Fassi at 15 ahead of old man Willie

The younger Fassi, Williams and Marx should have started with Thomas on the bench but instead we stick with the old farts - move on Rassie

At least we have two real locks starting - about fucking time

Aug 06, 2024, 16:55

I am keen to see SashaZulu combine with Willie Leroux. Also how he combines with Delande on attack.

Smith will cover the wing, but I suppose if there is an injury Pollard can also cover inside centre -or Sasha could shift to the inside centre with Pollard at 10.

Aug 06, 2024, 18:44

Smith will cover the wing?

When there's Williams.....

Aug 06, 2024, 18:47

meant Williams...not Smith :D

Aug 06, 2024, 18:55

forgiven but you're on a final warning not to do it again..:D

Aug 06, 2024, 19:01

Steady and safe is the call from Rassie, apart from Sasha there's nothing bold and adventurous about the backline. Sacha also receives protection from a solid pack....can't ask for more. On paper one has to feel sorry for Oz.

Aug 06, 2024, 23:22

The pack is better than it has been in a while with RG at lock and Louw at 8 instead of Kwagga

The backline is let down by Reinach at 9 - move on for crying out loud. Williams should have started

Am ahead of Kriel at 13 all day long

Aug 07, 2024, 00:23

Elrich Louw is more of a ball carrier and defender than competing at the base of the ruck.
Kolisi rarely makes an impact here, whereas Steph Dutoit plays wide so the Boks breakdown might get exposed if the ball carriers dont dominate the collisions early on.

With Marx on the bench, the team itself may be a bit lacking at the base of the ruck.
Although the Boks may just be too strong for them, the Boks would do well to find a specialist fetcher at 6 or have a Vermuelen-style number 8 that can play all styles of the game.

At least 2 of the back row must be competitive on the ground - at least when the breakdown is not going well.

Aug 07, 2024, 02:59

Zuluman will move to 15 in the 2nd half  & Williams/Pollard will steer the bombsquad to victory over a brave Aussie who'll be compensated by winning the breakdown battle.

Aug 07, 2024, 03:44

Hanekom is pretty handy on the deck.

Aug 07, 2024, 03:50

Hy's nie in die team nie.

Aug 07, 2024, 06:10

BB

You apparently miss out on a lot of things and least of all is that Marx used to be a lion at breakdowns and thus far has not been very effective in that regard.   When the ball is played wide the breakdwn play is dominated by De Allende and Du Toit at this stage.   Vermeulen was excellent at breakdowns near to forward play -but that is where he  performed exxtremely well,   When the breakdowns was wider out Vermeulen was not a factor at breakdowns.

Wallabies' Rugby Championship Test with Springboks full

By Darren Walton
Updated August 7 2024 - 4:01pm, first published 3:56p

The Wallabies' Rugby Championship opener against the world champion Springboks in Brisbane is officially a sellout.

Kicking off at 2:30pm, Saturday's rare afternoon Test match will be the first time that Suncorp Stadium will be packed to capacity for a Wallabies match since 2013 against the British and Irish Lions.

More than 50,000 fans will be in attendance.

"The response to this match shows that Australians and Queenslanders are right behind this Wallabies squad," Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said on Wednesday.

"We are still building under Joe (Schmidt), and we have started the season reasonably well against Wales and Georgia, however the two-time defending Rugby World Cup Champions are a new and exciting challenge.

"Hopefully the beautiful Queensland weather on a Saturday afternoon should make for some entertaining day-time footy, and quite a spectacle for the fans in attendance."

The Wallabies will be back at Suncorp Stadium this weekend for the first time in three years as Schmidt's unbeaten charges look to restore the ground's reputation as a fortress.

"The boys are familiar with the ground and good weather up here also plays a part," said Wallabies lock Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.

"So I guess we win games here, we grow in confidence and it becomes a fortress the more you win.

"So (hopefully) we can keep that going."

The Suncorp Test is the first match of the Rugby Championship for both the Wallabies and Springboks as the tournament returns to a full format following the shortened version last year due to the World Cup.

Following the Brisbane clash, both sides will head to Perth for a second meeting in as many weeks on August 17 at Optus Stadium.

The Wallabies, who enjoyed a friendly net session with the Australian cricket team on Wednesday, will then set off for Argentina for two Tests against Los Pumas as the Springboks return home to host the All Blacks.

The Wallabies then return home for their final Test on home soil in September, with the first Bledisloe Cup Test against the All Blacks on Saturday afternoon September 21 at Sydney's Accor Stadium.

The Rugby Championship concludes a week later in Wellington with the return Bledisloe Cup leg.

Strong side. Looks like Kwagga will go to eight and Van Staden to 7.

Also looks like Rassie is wanting to win this RWC more than just introducing the newer players. Time will tell.

Those writing off Faf are simpletons. The greatest warrior in the Bok side.

Aug 07, 2024, 15:03

I think that Erasmus si fully aware of where the team is going.    Lets get to the Mozart team that thh team is the oldest one starting a new  WC cycle.  That is BS - just look at the 2013 season as t Meyer's team selection - supported all out by Mozart.   By the time the WC took place he had added players like Matfoeld to te squad and the average age of the playing team was acually very near to 33 yeas of age.

Most of the over 33 year olds will be out and the squad has plenty of youngsters tha would reduce the age to  what it was in the  2019 WC when the average age of the playing team was 27,7 years of age.   That type of team entails a gradual replacement program - not an instant one.

Aug 07, 2024, 18:41

Meyers WC team was 28….Eluckmiss’ WC team was north of thirty, get off the machine Wanker.

Aug 07, 2024, 20:15

Another pull from the air invention by Mozart.

Wanker you say:

‘ Lets get to the Mozart team that teh team is the oldest one starting a new  WC cycle.  That is BS - just look at the 2013 season as t Meyer's team selection - supported all out by Mozart.   By the time the WC took place he had added players like Matfoeld to te squad and the average age of the playing team was acually very near to 33 yeas of age.’.

So here is the answer to that stinking pile of manure:

Team vs NZ in 2015 WC average age 27.68.

Team vs  NZ in 2023 WC average age 30.82

Eluckmiss’ team was three years older than HM’s team. You just threw 33 out there for HM’s team. Just lied without any conscience. As Anger said you are a disgusting liar Clevermike. I bet pretty much everything you say on here which can’t be verified is a lie as well.

Aug 08, 2024, 10:34

You are lying again about what you compared.   I referederred to he starting of he cyce in 2012 as you were referring to.  The 2012 team was not 28 years of age in 2012.   The average age of the 2015 sem against the AB'sd included playes who played in the semi was lowered because of injuries to older players during te series as well as BS perfrmances by older player - the average age of the 2015 WC squad was 32,6 years of age - but 8 of the oldest players were nplayable in teh series anway.

You statred te BS referring  the presen squat and team for Saturday and not any oher series.   I referred to the 2012 series and you went bananas to start quoting other series and matches.   You refer to the semi against New Zealand in 2015 - so you know who would be in the 2027 WC.

You use stats falsely to prove BS you spread on site. Idiotic really.

Aug 08, 2024, 14:32

I quote you in your own words:

By the time the WC took place he had added players like Matfoeld to te squad and the average age of the playing team was acually very near to 33 yeas of age’

There are liars and then there is a class of liar that will just go on lying even if they have been totally outed. Your pal Draad who admires you for some reason might want to opine on this and find some excuse for your disgusting behaviour. I can’t..

Aug 11, 2024, 16:21

Draad you can come out from behind the cupboard, the floor is your’s.

Aug 11, 2024, 18:28

Yes, it's obvious that Mike is wrong and doesn't want to admit it...I really see why the average age  is such a big issue for both of you.

Aug 11, 2024, 18:36

Case closed.

Aug 13, 2024, 15:48

Now that you sneakily try to raise age on another string Wanker, it’s only decent of me to give you another opportunity to correct your lie.

Aug 13, 2024, 18:23

I was also following your example and see what the result is,    I was just mentioning your BS you are always spreading.   You have no idea about what Erasmus is doing and planning to do  - spo whine on - you constanly like to make a total fool of yourself.

Aug 13, 2024, 18:29

Aug 11, 2024, 18:28

Yes, it's obvious that Mike is wrong and doesn't want to admit it...I really see why the average age  is such a big issue for both of you.

Aug 16, 2024, 16:01

That remains the case…he can’t admit his mistake

Aug 17, 2024, 07:36

Di I efer to the mad invention about the 2012-13seelctions f Meyer - cmparable to the 2024  selectionsa attacked by the toxic diotic Mozart as tages of players.   He then jumped t the 2015 world cup team plaed by Meyer in 2015.

The BS spreading Mozart obviously knows what the 2027 WC squad would look like.   He does not recogize that the average age of the 2015 WC squad was 32,5 years,   The older player were a disaster against Japan and Meyer and two of te oldest players went out with injuries - while the rest was banned to the bench or virtually never played for the rest of the tournament.     That forced Meyer to chose a team from the youngsters to take over and played  as starters in virtuallyy every match .in that torunament and thatwas especially true iro Pollard, De Allende, Kriel and De Jager - payes ere very little experience in playing for the Sprinmgboks,  on a rgeula basis.     The youngsters and the team as a whole was dead on their feet in the play-off matches - since Meyer's squad consisted of 8 unpayable players all over the age of 30 - who should have played as starters in the tests against the weaker tams.    The unplables made that impossible,

It is impossible to discuss anything ith the liar called mozart - when crnered he diverted attention away from facts raised being divertd t fac not even emntone in the original point raised,   He remains known as BS lie spreader no 1 on site.

Aug 17, 2024, 19:31

Were the Springboks 33 years old at the 2015 WC…

Yes

No

Just reproduce the honest word.  Only the word.

Aug 18, 2024, 10:50

The Grumpy Old Men . . . each one absolutely convinced that he's right and that the other one owes him some kind of apology.

And so the monotonous bickering goes on . . . day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year and decade after decade . . . I wonder what these two old relics would have to talk about if the other was gone?

Aug 18, 2024, 14:29

Oh gosh what did you do when the Board didn’t suit you…have a hissyfit, run away and then sneak back on under a different name,

Or perhaps I should lay my soul bare and tell everybody all my troubles, like you did when you whined about your substance abuse. Which worked better for you?
