As the Rugby Championship draws to a thrilling close, Springboks captain Siya Kolisi remains focused solely on delivering a stellar finale against Argentina, not on the historical implications of the match. With South Africa poised to clinch a consecutive title—a first in their storied Rugby Championship history—the pressure is palpable, but records are the last thing on the team's mind.

"Although we cannot control the result, the magnitude of this match makes it huge, and we are looking forward to it," Kolisi said, emphasizing the significance of the encounter at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham. The Springboks lead the standings and a victory on Saturday would not only secure the championship but also mark their first back-to-back triumph in the tournament's history.

"The quality of our performance will be the most important aspect."

Despite the potential for distraction with record-setting achievements within grasp, Kolisi insists that their primary ambition is to honor their teammates, particularly those who have never won the Rugby Championship. "There are a few guys in our team that haven’t won the Rugby Championship before, and we want to honour them and make it a special game for them. But setting records is not our focus. It’s all about our performance and trying our best to do the job tomorrow," he explained.

Mzwandile Stick, the Boks assistant coach, echoed his captain's sentiments, focusing on the quality of the on-field execution over the allure of lifting the trophy. "Breaking records is nice, and so is winning competitions, but the quality of our performance will be the most important aspect for us because we also have a tough end-of-the-year tour coming up," Stick noted.

Last week's game against Argentina, which ended in a decisive 67-30 victory for South Africa, highlighted areas for improvement despite the win. Stick remarked, "Last week we scored, and then they would score, and we conceded penalties that kept them in the game. If we don’t learn from that and the errors we made last week, we’d be silly. They are a good side, they’ll be desperate, and they are a passionate rugby nation." He stressed the importance of a robust start and a clever game from the backs to counter Argentina's passion and skill.

The stage is set for an epic showdown in London, where the Springboks aim to not just defend their title but also to elevate their game to honor their teammates and their proud rugby heritage.
