Looks like we have another pizza peddler as a ref.
Looks like we have another pizza peddler as a ref.
5 minutes in, nothing has happened.
Some good passing by Manie has Hartzenberg and Willemse making some yards for the Stormers.
Good kick by Willemse finds touch in the 22.
Wide pass by Manie, inside pass to Zas and Stormers score. Manie's distribution has been spot on so far.
Slaapman takes it into contact and concedes the penalty for holding on. Cardiff goes for the lineout.
Stormers scrum under pressure. Another penalty. Looks like Cardiff will tap and go.
And they needed just one phase to get over the line. Should be 5-7 Cardiff.
Stormers making some good progress and they get a penalty just outside the 22. Touch.
Howzit Pakie
I start watching and Manie knocks on
Some good phases for the Stormers until Manie drops Slaapman's offload.
Howzit Plum. Manie's been very good.
Some messy stuff under the high ball ends in a Cardiff scrum on the Stormers 10m.
Stormers now get a scrum penalty. Back up to the Cardiff 22.
Hartzenberg scores just as my feed catch a refresh. Straight through from ruck ball. 12-7
Cardiff getting someone sent off...
Looks like red...
yep it's red...
Southworth might be in trouble for Cardiff, shoulder to head on Fouche.
Bit harsh but I guess there wasn't any mitigation really. Straight in too high.
Cardiff one man down owns the Stormers maul.
Jesus, the chest on that replacement coming on.
Domachowski is his name apparently.
Very few successful scrums so far.
"I'ya willa say'ya justa once'a, respecta da gapp"
Super little kick through by Willemse gets the Stormers close. They're checking whether the ball was grounded dead before the Stormers dotted down.
Nah that's a try, didn't look like Cardiff grounded it.
lol Cardiff under it now as Zas steals a try from a grubber that got toe'd on....
Ha, do you have ref mic on your end Plum?
Zas is awarded the try. Looked like he might have been out of touch but the TMO was pretty adamant.
Willemse converts.
Great conversion from Willemse...but why is he doing the kicking?
...oh, wait, I already know
Great conversion Willemse, 19-7
Manie's distribution has been good, his high kicks not so much.
Slaapman getting bandaged.
And another scrum fails to reach completion. Cardiff penalty.
Cardiff maul going nowhere. They go to the phases.
And a nice little kick pass sees them over.
A good cross kick from Sheedy and Hamer-Webb is in to score. Sheedy converts . . . no, hang on, he took too long. Ref rules it out .
That's a shitter for them. 19-12
The 14 men of Cardiff are putting up a good fight here.
thats the half...
End of an average half. Few soft tries to the Stormers. Red card for Cardiff.
How is there not a shot clock in that stadium?
"How is there not a shot clock in that stadium?"
Good question. I don't know.
Hartzenberg scores off a Manie cross kick. The shot clock starts as soon as the try is scored? Didn't know that.
Good support play from Cardiff as they run almost the length of the field but it goes out 5m short and the Stompies have the lineout.
Paul de Wet on to replace Jantjies. Things could go south here . . .
24-12
Sacha is about to come on. Not sure who he's replacing?
It's Libbok coming off. Connor Evans also replaces Moerat.
Great breakout by the Stormers until De Wet drops the ball into nomansland.
Some pretty messy rugby out there now.
Good handling from Cardiff and Millard is in to score.
Sheedy's conversion is just wide so it's 24-17.
Great try Cardiff. Hamer-Webb drawing in 2 to leave Millard open outside.
Hang on . . . that last pass may have been forward . . . but the conversion has already been taken? Not sure what they're looking at here . . . could be a late no arms tackle by Damian Willemse . . .
Please don't tell me they're going to cancel the try over that unrelated obstruction.
Pass is fine.
This does nothing good for the game. Instead of a try we now have to sit and watch endless replays.
Some simulation from Simelane but that's not the tackle they're looking at. Think Willemse will get a yellow here . . . no, it's red. This will finish 14 vs 14.
What the fuck is going on? Make a decision and get on with it you stupid twats.
Now it's the Stormers with some good handling . . . they're just short . . . Sacha nearly cuts through . . . they have advantage . . . it breaks down and the Stompies have a penalty bang in front.
De Wet chooses not to release to Louw who would have been over.
De Wet is useless. As bad as Jayden.
Stormers really fluffed that scrum ball but they can still do something from here.
A Sacha backhand pass goes way off target.
Ref might as well just give a free kick instead of a scrum. They've just been a waste of time in this game.
Another scrum penalty. For the love of god take a tap and don't scrum again.
They scrum again. Jesus wept.
Scrum eventually completes and De Wet throws a wild pass to Zas who knocks on.
Theunissen breaks, feeds De Wet who offloads via the ground to Zas who can't gather.
Which means another scrum.
Two in a row completed. Happy days.
Bit of a shapeless to and fro going on now that ends with Cardiff finding touch on the Stormers 22.
Good rip by Sacha gets the Stormers possession.
Connor Evans is over after a good take in the air by Sacha. That should be the game.
LOL, the game has lost all shape. One team offloading to the other then popping it back again.
And then the try comes as Sacha picks up the rebound off his high kick and feeds Evans.
31-17
Jeez, Schickerling's got some toe.
Excellent try by Cardiff. They're not out of this just yet . . . but the conversion needs to be good . . . and it is!
31-24.
3 minutes to play.
Cardiff scores off the maul..
Penalty Stompies and Sacha will go for poles. Even if he misses, time will be up.
It's over and there's the hooter. Well played Stompies.
34-24. Not the best game but it had its moments.
"De Wet is useless. As bad as Jayden."
No, much worse...I will play Brock Harris at 9 ahead of him.
Dobson should get his fat arse kicked. He should never have started Libbok - the man was out od touch with the game and produced nothng of note and forced the playmaker and kicker at goal to Willemse at full back. In fact Willemse had an excellent game while Libbok brought zero to the game and without Willemse and Zas the backline was as dead as a doornail in real attacks.and it did Cardiff a massive favor keeping them in the match and never really not a certainty as to the Stormers win. Leaving Roos out also reduced the efficieny of the loosies was a gambe. As to using the locks Schickerling had a very good match and as a lock he waas everywhere - whike Moerat produced very little in the match,
In the quarters that situation would have left the situation as the Stormers would inevitably have led to the tomers losing in the quarte - so gambling wth selection would lose matches they should have won. lost, As it is the Storers would have lost such a match against what would have been a loss against Glasgow away in Scotland, Fact is injuries and idiocy by a clueless coach lthis season kept teh Stormers out of the top 8 teams for most of the season, It was only 3 bomus point wins in Rounds 16 to 18 that force the Stormers into the Top 8.
So the made selections of yesterday was what is called in rugby idiocy and that is what Dobson caused in most of the tournament for the Stormers, It is not yet certain who would be in the positios 6 to 8, What is certan is tha t the Sharks will have a quarterfinaks against perhaps Munster and witha dead backline in attackig s going o laa oan inevitable loss, in the qarters and a dead backline will not win the . match for the Sharks. So Pinetree would be responsible for an inevitable loss if the shit is not change asap in th e upcoming quarterfinal.
So all I can say is "blaas my siel" especially if Etzebeth is not going to play, Why o why have SA franchices coaches that is causing real weaknesses in the teams they are supposed to coach?
. .
Libbok was just fine as a distributor, there was little wrong with how he ran the backline. His kicking was mostly poor though, with his high kicks not getting any distance. To say he brought "nothing" when he set up the first try with spot on distribution and at least one other try with a pinpoint cross kick is being disingenuous.
Libok had a great game, especially if you take the long injury lay off into account...it was our last match at "New-Newlands" this season...Manie is leaving, so it was his send off...he should have started...we needed him to ger game time before the playoffs.
Yes, JD had a good game too...and we missed Roos...Willemse played 15 to give DanDup a crack at 12 and to give the Dup/Simelane combo a run...nothing sinister, just exercising the squad depth.
I only watched part of the first half and Manie didn't do badly. Hi distribution is still so crisp.
Its just a problem having a flyhalf that can't kick for poles, or that has a bad end. It's a thorn in one's side as a coach and a bit like the tip of your spear is fragile.
After the miss in Argentina I feel like I'm suffering from insurmountable confirmation bias with Manie.
The problem is that I like him. He's a very good guy by all accounts.
Ja Plum...he's not the complete deal...but I'm sure Sasha picked up a few tricks playing with Manie.
What good is there in just passing balls to anyonme wihout playing thinking rugby at all - he made passes and mostly to people already under pressure, but with Sacha his passing game put Scarlets under pressure, I did not see a single case where Cardiff was under pressure through any positives, The Stormers pressure pases canme from Willemse and not from Libbok during all the time Libbok was playing.
Willemse was a real asset - Libbok was a dead head player. But then site members like dumbo players and that is where I dffer fom them.
What good sis here to just pass balls to anyonme wihout playing thinking rugby at all - he made passes and mostly to people already under pressure, but with Sacha his passing game but Scarlets under pressure, I did not see a single case where Munste was under pressure through any positives, The Stormers pressure pases canme from Willemse and not from Libbok during all the ime Libbok was playing.
Scarlets? Munster? You are most definitely the Joe Biden of this forum ou Maaik.
Tx Pakie and Rooinek....followed and enjoyed your comments t'out the game.
Cheers Denny.
I corrected my mistake before even your comment. Obviouskly I was busy with two postings and one dealing with the potential game between the Sharks and Munster in the Quarters in the other match potential match against Munster or the Stormers by the Sharks, In the case of any game by the Sharks they have 2 dumbo's in their backline - if not three.if Wlliams cannot play. So lets hope the Sharks win today so they can have Munster as opposition next week.
But in the case of the Sharks playing the Stormers in the Quarters or thereafter - there woud be dumbo coaches will compete as well.
That was the first time Hartzenberg showed what he is about - scored a great try
Zas is a quality wing - should have won a Bok cap by now
Libbok and Willemse were excellent
Big fan of Theunissen as well
Jantjies was very good with his fast crisp service
Moerat keeps proving his critics wrong
Moerat just love cards and penalties -always jeopardising the Stormers and ten w have Libbok who contributed vey little to the S tormers when it came to abckline attacking. Not impresed yesterday by the two. Libbok as better than Masuku routinely is - but that is not really much to say about him, because t flyhalf Masuk is shit at best, .
But Masuku is a generational Springbok...just ask Dawie die kabouter
