Stormers' attack coach Dawie Snyman didn't mince words following their lackluster victory over the Dragons, emphasizing the urgent need for the team to polish their finishing skills. Despite snagging a 29-21 win at Cape Town Stadium, Snyman highlighted a recurring issue — ample opportunities squandered by poor execution. "We created a lot of opportunities," Snyman reflected, drawing parallels to a similar performance against the Bulls weeks earlier.

The Stormers' struggle isn't in generating chances but in capitalizing on them, a point Snyman finds more reassuring than worrying.

"You don’t want to sit after a game and not know where your opportunities are coming from,"

he stated, echoing the sentiments of Stormers captain Ruhan Nel who admitted post-match,

"We just weren’t accurate enough, but also it’s encouraging for us. I’d rather sit here with 10 opportunities missed than one created the whole game."

The foundation for these opportunities, according to Snyman, lies with the forwards, particularly the scrum, which showed dominance in the match. "The set-piece has been massive for us. Credit to the players, they put in the hard work every week," he praised, noting that it's now up to the backs to make the most of this advantage.

Looking ahead, Snyman warned against underestimating their next opponents, Edinburgh, despite their recent heavy loss. The conditions in Johannesburg are challenging, and Snyman recognizes the resilience of the Edinburgh squad. "The Lions had a good start and really played well, but we know it’s an Edinburgh side that will be tough here on Saturday night. They are a quality side with world-class players and they’ll be a big challenge," he cautioned.

As the United Rugby Championship progresses, Snyman underscored the importance of addressing these small but crucial issues in their game. "If you don’t take your chances against a team like Edinburgh, they will put you under pressure," he advised, stressing the necessity for the Stormers to evolve their game strategy and execution to ensure continued success in the league.
