The Stormers staged a thrilling return to form by trouncing the Vodacom Bulls 32-19 at Loftus Versfeld, effectively snapping their rivals' four-game winning streak and reviving their own ambitions in the URC. A bonus-point victory propelled the Cape Town squad back to second place in the standings, while the Bulls are left lingering in eighth.

The game was a nail-biter from the start with both teams having early tries disallowed following TMO interventions. The scrums were fierce, with penalties exchanged as both sets of forwards, brimming with Springboks, vied for supremacy. The match's intensity notched higher when Stormers’ lock Adré Smith received a yellow card for a late tackle on Bulls’ Handré Pollard. The situation escalated when the Bulls earned a penalty try and Stormers’ flank Ben-Jason Dixon was also sin-binned for collapsing a maul, giving the Bulls a temporary 7-0 lead and a two-man advantage.

Momentum shifted when Stormers' flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, despite earlier missing a penalty, orchestrated a stunning play, allowing centre Damian Willemse to score a brilliant try. “Spots the gap and he’s over,” celebrated the Stormers as Willemse evened the score. The first half closed with the Stormers narrowly leading, setting the stage for a dominant second half.

The Stormers' resurgence was palpable as they piled on the pressure. Paul de Villiers' try from a lineout drive further tilted the game. The Bulls, overwhelmed, conceded another penalty try and were reduced once again to 14 men when Marco van Staden was yellow-carded during his 100th game. This sequence underscored the Stormers' relentless drive, having completely reversed the game's earlier dynamic.

A late surge by the Bulls saw replacement scrumhalf Zak Burger and Kurt-Lee Arendse score tries, but it was too little too late. The Stormers sealed the deal with a clever kick from Willemse, leading to Hacjivah Dayimani touching down, concluding the match decisively.

"Hacjivah Dayimani is back doing bits for the DHL Stormers,"

The match underscored a dramatic turnaround for the Stormers, reminiscent of their early-season dominance. On the flip side, the Bulls have to regroup and reassess after their streak was dismantled so effectively.
