Ruhan Nel, the Stormers' skipper, has issued a stern warning: underestimate the Dragons at your peril. Following their triumph against the Vodacom Bulls, Nel highlighted the danger of complacency ahead of their upcoming Vodacom URC encounter at Cape Town Stadium. "The biggest danger is complacency," Nel cautioned, emphasizing the risks of letting standards slip after a big win.

Despite the Dragons' modest 14th place in the standings, Nel described them as a formidable opponent.

"They're probably one of the strongest defensive sides since the start of the year. They've got big ball-carriers, guys who love to tackle and a smart kicking game. They’re not a team you can take lightly."

This respect underscores the Stormers' commitment to maintaining intensity and focus, traits that were pivotal in their recent victory.

Nel also opened up about his personal journey back to the field after a lengthy injury layoff, sharing his relief and satisfaction at playing a full 80 minutes in the high-altitude game against the Bulls. "I was just really happy to be back on the field, especially in a big derby like that. I was nervous going into the week because you don’t want to let the team down," Nel reflected. His successful return is a testament to his determination and hard work during recovery.

The Stormers are also buoyed by the return of Dan du Plessis, reuniting a veteran midfield duo with Nel. The pair have a storied history and a deep tactical connection, reminiscent of storied Stormers' centers like De Wet Barry and Marius Joubert. "We’ve played together for years, so there’s a real understanding there," Nel explained, highlighting their defensive synergy and shared game instincts.

As the Stormers gear up to face the Dragons, their lineup is strengthened by the return of key players and a clear focus on avoiding the complacency that can derail a season. The team dynamic, enriched with experience and resilience, sets the stage for what promises to be a fiercely contested match.
