The Delande Kick that Kriel Scored from a Defensive Error

Against decent opposition, that would never have been a try against a first-choice test team.
My first instinct was that the player was going to pass, and then I realised it was Delande.

Some replays showed the Welsh outside backs were marking the Boks, but if Delande held on a bit longer he could have waited until the outside players had passed the Welsh defenders who would have been on the backfoot chasing back.
Instead, he kicked an okay kick, but it was fielded poorly.
He should have straightened the line a bit more and then passed to the left wing side.

I concede that Kriel has had 2 solid tests recently, The 2nd try that Kriel scored was also poor defence at test level.

Spot on…the right play was to use the space he had in front of him and commit the defence. The kick was just a speculation.

Big error by Wales 13, that was no try otherwise.

In my opinion, instead of holding on longer he should have thrown the pass earlier to Kriel, who can then commit Wales 14 before releasing Kolbe, home free. DA wasn't really in a position to commit anyone except the inside players. The key was to get the ball wide quickly before the cover could get across. DA essentially just ran himself out of options, holding on until Wales 14 was between him and Kriel/Kolbe ruling out a pass to Kriel and the inside defense had caught him, leaving him with a kick as the only option. Thinks as slowly as he runs.

All I noticed was how damn slow DDA was compared to everyone else.

Of course he ran himself out of options, Pakie.

That's what he does.

He starts with options, minimises his options and finally chooses the least viable of the remaining choices.

It's so sad that he is keeping AE from starting for the Boks

Ja, I saw that too, with so much space and then he kicks the ball. Not to mention that he always looks to pass, but then steps inside and try bump off a few players and then just go to ground. If he wasn’t strong I’m the contact then he would have just turns the ball over. Don’t see why he is better than Andre. It is time to drop him.

Hope to see Esterhuizen get a crack on Friday. I think Andre is faster than Damian

Damian is not that strong in the upper body. He is regularly dumped. Andre isn't just a tad faster, but actually offers real strength.

Good point Pakie,if Delande had passes earlier to Kolbe it would have been a certain try.
The other option was holding on for longer, but just  a pass to Kriel or a skip pass to Koble earlier would have been a certain try.

No chance a first choice starting team would have bungled it like that Welsh team did

DDA does not have a rugby brain.

It's that simple.

I've made posts here before that demonstrate how he perpetually chooses the worst all the choices available to him.

He makes bad decisions, isn't good at putting people into space with timely passes and is never, and I mean NEVER, found running a good supporting line.

All he is there for is to run straight at the line.

But if that's the case, why don't we just get a bigger, stronger and faster player to do that?
