Firstly I think this is one of those occasions when Dud Allende was motivated, perhaps the criticism is having an effect. Dud Toit had an effective first half, hardly made a contribution in the second half and then finally pinched the last lineout ball.

Dud Allende first. He had a series of Dud runs that produced nothing. The usual charge into contact. No offloads although the commentator at 64.59 says he offloaded in contact, it was a simple pass….no contact. This is the sort of bs that abounds.

Dud Allende did make one steal….it came seconds after his roll on the deck gave NZ a steal. He charged down a Barrett kick, which was significant because it led to our last try. But in truth he never even needed to jump. It was an awful kick by Barrett.

For the rest he defended well with a fine tackle on Taylor early on….but two wild no look passes blotted the copy book. Last year Dud was instructed to grubber…this year it’s the no look pass…there is no generative AI here. And run after run where he never offloaded and died with the ball. Nothing new…a more energetic game, the same bankrupt ball carrying.

Now Dud Toit….two missed lineouts to start….one his opponent got ahead of him….Bongi adjusted higher, then Dud couldn’t get high enough. He made a lot of tackles in the first half. Mostly successful although Jordan left him for dead once.

And of course no turnovers by Dud

The running was the usual inept show….after Kolbe breaks Dud throws a pass to no one…is penalized a few metres out at 29.20…..fails to secure the Kolbe pop under pressure from Savea….cant keep up with the Willie break at 44.00.

These are all  things a lock might do, your primary forward ball carrier needs to do better.

…….

So both these players made contributions but failed to make the contributions you might expect of them. Dud Toit should be playing lock. Dud Allende will never be a part of a creative backline, we have to chose one or the other.

lol people gave DDA a 9 rating.

I honestly think it's a case of him normally being so bad, for almost a decade now, that when he simply performs on or near par to what is expected of a test 12, people are so relieved that they just give him near full marks.

Laughable, really.

Sep 08, 2024, 17:28

What about the game changers like Kwagga , Eben, Marx and Kolbe?? They hardly get any recognition….no it’s the media hype chosen, that get the credit and praise…..that’s also Laughable.

YAWN

How embarrassing

Sep 08, 2024, 18:44

Here's a nice thought experiment.

Over 4 halves, DDA chucked 3 passes to nobody.

Now, imagine that all 7 of our backs, each chucked 3 passes to nobody over 4 halves of rugby.

It would be 21 freshies...or about 1 every 8 minutes.

Think we'd still have won?

When I saw the haadline  I thought why do you always write about yourself.    You must stop it - we already know you are a rugby dud - so I did not bother to read any of  your comments.

Delande is the best 6 in the game.

Some real ignorant clowns on this board

Dave

Agree 100% with you.   Whenever real prfessionals make comments the site membes regard it as BS - they know more about rugby than any experts and ex-players do.   Amazing!!!!!

You mean like when Rassie said Mostert is a key player for him and when Bakkies said Mostert is one of the best in the world.

Care to comment?

Sep 09, 2024, 14:42

I’ve never heard Rassie say that and Bakkies never said that he made a comment about him as a young Lions player was certainly not about the current Mostert

Mostert was a useful enough provincial player who should have passed as a 7

No one has ever said much an about Mostert as there is fuck all to say about him other than the fact that he makes loads of process tackles and takes his line out ball - that’s it. He plays with plenty of heart and energy and is durable

All surface stuff - look closely and you see he offers nothing physically because he simply can’t impose himself in that regard

Zero dominant carries, zero dominant tackles, zero dominant clean outs. Given his lack of grunt he is hardly going to be an asset in the engine room now is he? There is no way he adds physical value to a scrum, a maul or maul defence,

Given his physical deficiencies one would expect him to be a really gifted rugby player to offset that lack of grunt - much like Matfield but no - do you see him run great lines, attack space, make great passes etc - no you don’t

Now those are not exactly the traits of a Bok lock but you would expect to find them with him as he offers nothing physically but no.

Matfield is the perfect example of a Mostert kind of lock - he lacked grunt originally but was a skilful athlete that offset the lack of grunt. But to his credit he muscled up to a respectable 115kg, knowing that a bit of bulk would add value to him as a player which it did.

This is something Mostert has never done and it’s made him a lesser player

What value does Mostert actually add as a lock? He is shit

Sep 09, 2024, 14:46

I’ve never heard Rassie say that and Bakkies never said that he made a comment about him as a young Lions player was certainly not about the current Mostert

Neither was Aplon's comment about the current DDA, but you give that full credence. And you also said you had never heard a coach or player say anything about Mostert, yet you're clearly well aware of Bakkies' comment. For shame.

Sep 09, 2024, 15:04

Bullshit that comment is from Aplon recently and of course it’s going to be about him when he played with him.

It was a comparison between Jean and DA.

I only know about the Bakkies comment because Moz posted it you stupid twit - try catch a wake up

Shame my fucking arse

If Rassie said that about Mostert provide the evidence - I’ve never seen it but then again Rassie has a blind spot when it comes to locks and given he has selected Mostert so often he clearly rates him.

It does surprise me that Rassie is so poor when it comes to locks - fuck me it’s been powder puff Mostert for ages when Lood is not about and when he had the perfect opportunity to start RG ahead of useless Mostert he failed to.

Then we had the utterly useless Orie on board, the very suspect call of Nico Janse v Rensburg and now it’s another powder puff in Nortje

Fuck me I’ve also read that given the injuries at lock and the need to rest Eben and PSDT that he is even considering 31 year old Irne Herbst playing for Quins

Give me a fucking break

I love Rassie as our coach but give the lock selections to someone else - assuming of course it is him making the calls - I guess it could be scrum coach Daan Human - who knows

We have Eben, Lood and RG - the rest are shit

We have the likes of Jason Jenkins, Ruben v Heerden, Ruan Vermaak, Andre Smith, JF v Heerden and a host of other youngsters who are all better options than his lightweight or never been selections

Bloody hell give me Staasen, Walt Steenkamp, JD Schickerling, Emile v Heerden, Connor Evans, Ruben Schoeman, Ludwig or Corne Rhal over Nico or Irne
