It’s unusual for 3 youngsters to so clearly put up their hands in a 2 match series. But we may have seen 3  new world class players emerge:

1 First among equals Jamie Osborne. This kid did so much to ensure Ireland’s win. Superb high ball takes….effective contributions coming into the line and very mature decision making. To me he was the best player on the park last Saturday.

2 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu ….some immature decisions, but fabulous breaks and terrific defense. He looked completely at home at international level. With a name like that you’d better be a super star.

3 Ciáran Frawley nailed two 45 meter drops while being charged by the Boks. What a weapon as my US Eagles mate commented to me. He looks like a tough, raw boned kid with potential even if he is a little older. He is already an Irish legend,

…..

Great fun watching these kids taking on a huge test series fearlessly,

Osborne was excellent. Couldn't believe when I read yesterday that the first test in the series was his test debut.

Bravo to the Irish, like the Aussies rugby's not anywhere near being the top code.

The Sport Ireland survey also canvassed how many students had attended a match as a spectator or supporter in the last 12 months. The top five sports were Gaelic football (35%), soccer (35%), basketball (25%), hurling (24%) and rugby (22%).

basketball (25%)

WTF, I don't know anyone in Ireland who watches basketball.

Ah its just students. Yeah basketball is played in primary and secondary schools here in Ireland maybe a little in college and university as well, but its virtually non existent here after that.
