Bath and Harlequins are gearing up for the future, locking down key front-row players, while Montpellier secures a towering South African lock. In a bold move to solidify their squads, these clubs are setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying continuation of rugby prowess.
Vilikesa Sela, a product of Bath's own academy, has renewed his commitment to the club, extending his contract until at least 2028. Since his first team debut in 2024, Sela has climbed the ranks, recently earning a spot in the England squad for the 2026 Six Nations. "Bath is home for me. From playing in the Academy to playing with the senior team, I’ve always seen it as a privilege to wear the jersey. I feel like something special is being built here for the future to come, so to carry on my journey in the Blue, Black and White is honestly a blessing. Psalm 37:5," Sela expressed.
"We are so excited about Billy continuing at Bath. His best is definitely yet to come."
Meanwhile, Harlequins have secured the services of Pedro Delgado, an Argentine tighthead prop who joined from Super Rugby Americas side Dogos XV. Since his arrival, Delgado has been a pivotal figure, recently featuring in three of Argentina’s Autumn Nations Series matches. Delighted with his new contract, Delgado shared, "I’m really happy to be staying at Harlequins. It’s incredible to be together with four Argentinians, especially to help me out with the language! We’re always together and helping each out in different ways, which is great. I want to keep improving as a player and developing as a man, and my English! I want to be out on the pitch as much as possible and perform in a Harlequins shirt, and for the Pumas."
"Pedro is a powerful operator who has made a strong start to life here at Harlequins. He’s a great person and a popular figure within the squad,"
noted Jason Gilmore, senior coach at Harlequins.
On the European front, Montpellier has announced the signing of Ruben van Heerden from the Stormers. The South African lock, known for his towering presence and international experience, has inked a three-year deal starting from the 2026/2027 season. "I am very happy to join MHR, and I can’t wait to give everything for this incredible team and its supporters," Van Heerden remarked, eager to start his new chapter in the Top 14.
The strategic signings of these prominent players are sure to add depth and dynamism to their respective teams, promising thrilling rugby action in the seasons to come.
