Former Springboks coach Nick Mallett has praised the fly-half depth available to Rassie Erasmus, though he forecasts a challenging encounter for Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in the upcoming Rugby Championship finale at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham. Despite a stellar performance in Durban where Feinberg-Mngomezulu amassed a record 37 points, including a hat-trick, in a 67-30 rout, Mallett anticipates a tightened defense against him in the next clash.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who shone last game, retains his starting spot, edging out heavyweights Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok. Erasmus, sticking with Sacha for consecutive starts, argued, "It was very tempting to put Handre Pollard for us as coaches but then, he is going to learn a lot from this match." He highlighted the limited preparation time and the pressure from a previous high-scoring game as pivotal learning moments for the young fly-half.

"The most important improvement we've made is the 10, making the correct decisions,"

Mallett reiterated on SuperSports’ Final Whistle show, underscoring the critical role of a fly-half in steering team dynamics. He warned that Argentina's defense would not be as generous this time around, noting, "Everything was rosy on Saturday for Sacha [in Durban], he had a bit of space, and they probably didn’t realize he was as dangerous individually as he was." Mallett expects the upcoming match to test Feinberg-Mngomezulu's ability to adapt and find new avenues to exploit.

On the depth at fly-half, Mallett expressed envy from other international teams, "We are very fortunate. How many teams can honestly say that they’ve got three great fly-halves?" He praised the distinct skills of Pollard and Libbok, highlighting their strategic importance depending on the match conditions.

The Springboks are poised for the Rugby Championship title showdown in London, with a squad depth that leaves opponents guessing and a tactical flexibility that could very well dictate the pace and outcome of the final. The blend of experienced tacticians and emerging talents like Feinberg-Mngomezulu ensures that the Springboks' fly-half strategy remains a formidable force in world rugby.
