In a significant hit to their campaign, Wales will be missing the leadership and prowess of captain Jac Morgan for the remainder of the Autumn Nations Series. The back-rower, a standout performer for both club and country, sustained a dislocated shoulder during the recent clash against Argentina, an injury severe enough to sideline him for critical upcoming matches against Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Wales head coach Steve Tandy, still fresh in his role, faced the media post-defeat with a grim update. "It's not looking good for Jac," he admitted. The loss of Morgan is not just a tactical blow but an emotional one for the squad. Tandy expressed the collective sentiment, "We're gutted to lose Jac. He's a world-class player, as well as a great man off the pitch." Morgan's injury occurred 55 minutes into the game, casting a shadow over the stadium.

"I've seen him in the changing rooms, he's devastated. Ultimately, it's just about Jac now recovering."

With Morgan out, Tandy has called up Harri Deaves, an uncapped player from the Ospreys, to fill the void in the squad. "But this gives an opportunity now for someone else, and Harri has been performing strongly for the Ospreys for a consistent period," Tandy noted, highlighting the silver lining in this otherwise unfortunate situation.

The question of who will take up the captaincy in Morgan’s absence remains open, with Dewi Lake and Dafydd Jenkins being strong contenders for the role. The team will need to quickly recalibrate as they face a challenging set of fixtures ahead.

Wales squad in full:

Forwards: Keiron Assiratti, Adam Beard, Liam Belcher, Rhys Carre, Ben Carter, Brodie Coghlan, Christian Coleman, Olly Cracknell, Rhys Davies, Harri Deaves, James Fender, Archie Griffin, Dafydd Jenkins, Dewi Lake, Alex Mann, Morgan Morse, Taine Plumtree, Nicky Smith, Danny Southworth, Gareth Thomas, Freddie Thomas, Aaron Wainwright

Backs: Josh Adams, Jacob Beetham, Rio Dyer, Dan Edwards, Jarrod Evans, Kieran Hardy, Joe Hawkins, Louie Hennessey, Max Llewellyn, Reuben Morgan-Williams, Blair Murray, Louis Rees-Zammit, Tom Rogers, Callum Sheedy, Ben Thomas, Nick Tompkins, Tomos Williams

This reshuffling of the team and new leadership roles will undoubtedly be a test of resilience and adaptability for the Welsh squad as they navigate through the remainder of the Autumn Nations Series.
