In the wake of a stinging 48-33 loss to France at the Stade de France, the Wallabies' performance varied drastically across the board. Here’s a breakdown of how each player fared in this bruising encounter.

Starting with the backs, Max Jorgensen, usually subdued this tour, managed to shine briefly with a well-taken try, earning him a 7. Harry Potter, despite his magical namesake, couldn't contain the swift Louis Bielle-Biarrey, resulting in a score of 5. Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, similarly disappointing, was pulled early from the game, reflecting in his lowly 5. Centre Len Ikitau fought hard to provide some momentum, grabbing a 7 for his efforts, while Dylan Pietsch faltered, scoring a 5.

The spotlight—or perhaps the harsh glare—falls on Tane Edmed. His underwhelming performance at fly-half, scoring a mere 4, sparked controversy, particularly around the treatment of James O’Connor by the Wallabies' management.

"Joe Schmidt and the Wallabies have harmed their chances by treating James O’Connor so abysmally this year,"

reflecting a sentiment that Edmed’s inclusion may have been premature. Jake Gordon started strong but faded to a 6 as France dominated the latter half.

Turning to the forwards, captain Harry Wilson made a robust start but tapered off, scoring a 7. Fraser McReight was relentless, also earning a 7. Tom Hooper matched this score with a solid display. Jeremy Williams and Nick Frost, both scored 6, battled with physicality but struggled in lineouts. Taniela Tupou’s mixed performance in scrummaging and running earned him a 6, while Matt Faessler, despite scoring twice, was let down by lineout woes, resulting in a 5. Angus Bell stood out amongst his peers with a rampaging display and a stunning solo try, securing the top score of 8.

The replacements had a mixed impact. Rob Valetini and Filipo Daugunu brought energy, particularly Daugunu, who impressed after replacing Suaalii. Allan Alaalatoa maintained the momentum set by Tupou, though Carlo Tizzano’s errors cost him, all scoring a uniform 6.

This mixed bag of performances leaves much to be pondered as the Wallabies regroup and look ahead to their next challenges.
