Most of the older players mentioned held full time jobs,trained and played rugby in their own free time.
Acknowledge the difference prior to demeaning the old times for the new professional era that has come about plus some of the aids associated with todays pro players.
Yep some of those old times actually had skills, stamina and played for the love of the game.

MCOB's are very proud of our rugby history, indeed it is a huge privilege to go to a school like that, where the real love of the game is cultivated...many great sportsmen in rugby, cricket and other sports and leaders in military, business and human activities.

I agree, the list is even longer. Old soldiers are actually tougher...they did this on their own, just sheer guts, love of the game, balanced life and God given talent without props and gimmicks. Give me Rocky Macianos, Joe Louis's and Roberto Duran's did it on their own without modern day tools. Men were tougher. Film actors like Paul Newman, John Wayne and Steve Mc Queen were real men compared to the wimps today. They were real. Just as common sense and wisdom were real and human and without the flaws with weak spots of artificial intelligence and synthetic assistance. Protective wear and concentrated training to become "machines".
Doc Craven was a true rugby lover, for what it was. Mr Rugby, Kitch and Mac were similar.
But we will never learn. I loved rugby more then and cricket far more.
