If we take the last 6 years into account then it was a massive success. As a fan, who want us to be equivalent if not better than the Mallet boks with their 17 wins and that same run the All Blacks and the Irish had.
The one thing I realised, the more you win consecutively the greater the chances are of losing. In Irelands case, they were about to get the record, the pressure was building on them, to get past the WC quarters for the first time. Not only having to win every match, but also beating the record. They came so close.
The truth also is that the boks travel a lot, we select players from abroad and only in the World Cup year do we actually start building partnerships. Not to mention now super focus the boks are.
Some players I would prefer not to have in the team, some I feel like Kolisi who are over rated and bragging for other peoples work. Cough, Vermeulen the real captain
I see some of the boks have gone a bit overboard on the drinking, it is really sad to see Malcolm Marx drunk like a farm worker on the weekend. No problem with knocking a few back, but there is a line.
So apparently we will be playing in a 3 match series here at home which should be interesting.
The one bit we have to put to bed is that we did beat the top teams when it counted but not Ireland.
So I hope we can focus and whitewash the Irish. Rumours are that some of the boks will still be around. So I hope next year we can cement or spot as the number 1 ranked team
I would also like to see a grand slam tour with a win against the 4 home nations. Can’t remember when last that was accomplished or when we got the chance to do that.
We have some real good talent on the fringes and I hope we can develop them but not throwing those dumb teams together. Hopefully there will be no Covid, but the boks now have 4 years to start building.
69 % win Ratio is retry decent and better than what we had before. I hope we can hit the 75% win ratio.
Players I would like to see given a bigger part are
Props, Thomas the tank, Wilco Louw, Steenkamp
Hooker, Dwebe (still missing jumpers) Grobbler and we need a 4th hooker to be capped.
Lock, Nortje has bulked up, hope he can regain his form and take Mostert place. We have enough cover here, but we need an Etzebeth under study
Back row, Louw, Van Staden, Roos to get more opportunities
9, Williams and Hendrikse to get a proper crack. I want to Zack burger of the bulls get a run too
10, Covered with Libbok and Pollard, but we need a 3 and 4 number 10. Will they continue to invest in Willemse. Robert Du Preez might be a good option, Goosen has had his day, but players seem to be selected much older these days, so never say never.
Center. Hopefully this is the end of dud. AE should be our starting 12, Willemse is probably our best bet at 12. Not sure which other 12 will be coming through
Outside centre. Kriel and Am can still make the next World Cup and Moodie seem to have the inside track
Wingers, Arendse have officially taken over from Mpimpi, sad to see Sbu struggling. No sure what other wingers will come through
Fullback, Gelant is back, hopefully he’ll find his way back for the Stormers. Fassi needs a wake up call. Just watched him in the most recent URC games and he is not even trying to tackle anymore. Probably another position that we will need to develop depth. Please, no more Willie.
Libbok, Gelant, Willemse was amazing for the stormers and maybe we can see the same magic for the boks.
These players need to learn how to play in the wet. Manie especially. We have the rocket Williams that can open up a game.
We have about 40 test matches to build depth, but Rassie has proven that you can blood an uncapped player 8 months out, but then again, Libbok, William, Moodie we’re not considered for the final. Moodie being the player that should have been there. But the coaches opted for calm minds and experience
