Don't put Willie le Roux out to pasture just yet! At a recent SA Rugby event in Johannesburg, the seasoned fullback made it clear he's not ready to hang up his boots on the international stage. While mingling at the sponsorship soirée, Le Roux shared some heartfelt sentiments about his connection to the green and gold.

“You do miss being in the team all the time, especially when you play with them and celebrate the good wins,” Le Roux confessed, reflecting on his journey, which saw him earn his 100th cap against Italy in Gqeberha. His last appearance for the Springboks was in a nail-biting 24-17 defeat by the All Blacks at Eden Park, marking the Boks’ final loss for the year.

Despite these milestones, Le Roux is redirecting his energies to club commitments, currently lacing up for the Vodacom Bulls. With a derby clash against the Lions on the horizon at Loftus Versfeld, his focus remains razor-sharp on domestic duties. “For me, currently it’s about playing in the URC for the Bulls and doing my best there. You never know what can happen in the future. I just need to stay healthy and fit, because we don’t know what lies ahead,” he stated, eyes firmly on the present.

“The No 15 jersey is in very good hands.”

With younger stars like Damian Willemse and Aphelele Fassi turning heads in the No 15 jersey, Le Roux graciously acknowledges the stiff competition and the bright future of his position. Yet, his own aspirations remain undimmed by the rise of these dynamic talents.

At 36, Willie le Roux exhibits the tenacity and passion that have defined his storied career. Whether or not he dawns the Springbok jersey again, his influence both on and off the field continues to resonate with fans and players alike. As the rugby world watches these next chapters unfold, one thing is certain: Willie le Roux is not done yet.
