The former England coach, Clive Woodward, has dropped a bombshell on Henry Pollock, labeling the young star a potential liability after a heated display in England's nail-biting 48-46 defeat to France in the Six Nations showdown. Pollock, only 21, has been stirring up quite the storm, notably in Paris where his antics with the crowd did more harm than good.

Amid the electrifying atmosphere at Stade de France, Pollock became the focal point of jeers. His response? Gesturing and shushing the French fans following Tommy Freeman's late try that temporarily put England in the lead. But the drama peaked when Pollock’s slip-up in the final minutes handed France the ball, setting the stage for Thomas Ramos' match-winning penalty.

"I would definitely sit down Henry Pollock for more than a chat. All players have to do their talking on the pitch,"

Woodward expressed in his column for the Daily Mail. He further criticized Pollock’s performance, noting,

"Pollock’s baiting of the French crowd would have been fine if he had been on from the start and was delivering a world-class performance. But he hadn’t, and then he threw a silly pass which gave France the ball back, and from it Thomas Ramos’ penalty won them the game."

Woodward didn't stop at Pollock; he also pinpointed shortcomings in England's kicking game, specifically calling out Fin Smith’s erratic performance off the tee. Smith managed to convert only two out of five attempts, a shortfall that Woodward believes cost England dearly: "England have to find a world-class goal-kicker. Last weekend they did not have one and France did. End of story."

Despite the harsh critique, Woodward acknowledges Pollock's brilliance, yet insists on a swift and significant turnaround: "He is a brilliant player and I would want the real Pollock in the team, but not the current one who is fast becoming a liability. That has to change and quickly."

The stakes are high and the margin for error is thin at the top tier of international rugby. Pollock, a beacon of potential, now faces the tough task of refining his game and temperament, under the scrutinizing eyes of rugby legends and fans alike.
