In a riveting weekend of schoolboy rugby, Affies broke their 11-year losing streak against Grey College with a thrilling 28-21 victory, while Paarl Boys' High halted Stellenberg's impressive seven-game win run. Elsewhere, the Noordvaal Cup matches and other regional games showcased the burgeoning talent across South African schools.

In Pretoria, Affies and Grey College were neck and neck at the halftime whistle, tied at 7-7. The game kicked off with Affies' winger Dehan Botha slicing through the defense, setting up scrumhalf Fourie Roberts for the opening try. Grey College responded through Jonathan Drysdale, but after the break, it was largely the Affies show. With a trio of tries from Charl Els, Dandre Brink, and a second from Botha, they surged ahead to secure the win, despite a last-gasp try from Grey's Hennie Bredenhann.

"We've been building towards this victory for a long time, and the boys delivered spectacularly on the field today,"

said an elated Affies coach post-match.

Down in the Western Cape, Paarl Boys' made a strong statement with a decisive 29-7 win over Stellenberg, racking up 24 points in a devastating first-half performance. The victory was underscored by a dominant four tries to one margin.

Competition was fierce in other regions as well. Garsfontein continued their winning ways in the Noordvaal Cup, dismantling Noordheuwel 44-17, while Waterkloof, Helpmekaar, and Nelspruit also posted significant wins. In a more balanced encounter, St Charles and Glenwood shared the spoils in a 26-26 draw.

The Eastern Cape saw its share of drama with Selborne just edging Queen’s 19-17 in a nail-biter, while St Andrew’s ran riot over Cambridge, posting a massive 73-19 scoreline. In the Free State, Jim Fouché overcame Sentraal 38-28 in a fiercely contested battle.

This weekend not only highlighted the high skill levels present in the school circuits but also set the stage for intriguing matchups as the season progresses. With teams like Affies and Paarl Boys' showing strong form, the upcoming games are poised to be as thrilling as ever.
