As the current PREM season draws to a close, Gloucester Rugby has announced a significant roster change, confirming the departure of 20 players. Among these, the standout names include club captain Tomos Williams and the formidable ex-All Black Nepo Laulala. While speculation surrounds Ross Byrne’s future, his omission from the leavers list hints at a continued tenure with Gloucester, despite interests from Top 14 side Perpignan.

The Gloucester squad will see a transformation with twelve members from the senior squad and eight from the senior academy setting off for new ventures. Noteworthy exits include Los Pumas forward Matías Alemanno and players like Kirill Gotovtsev, who is set to join Newcastle Red Bulls, and various others who have each left their mark at Kingsholm.

"With a number of new faces joining us for next season, across the first team and a fresh academy intake, it’s inevitable that some players will be moving on at the end of this campaign,"

remarked George Skivington, Gloucester's head coach. He further expressed his gratitude towards the departing players:

"I’d like to thank every player who is leaving the Club for their commitment and contribution during their time at Kingsholm. They’ve all played their part, whether that’s across a number of seasons or during a shorter spell, and they leave with our very best wishes for the future."

Amidst these exits, Gloucester also confirmed the retention of England hooker Jack Singleton, who continues his rehabilitation following a cardiac event last season. His future playing status remains under careful consideration.

This period of transition is not just about bidding farewell but also about embracing the new potentials set to join the Gloucester ranks. It reflects the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of rugby, where change is the only constant. As fans and supporters, the departure of seasoned players is poignant, yet the anticipation of fresh talent promises new strategies and achievements on the field.

As we look forward to witnessing the next chapter in Gloucester’s storied rugby history, the contributions of each departing player are duly recognized. Their efforts in the Cherry & White will be remembered fondly, as they carry forward their prowess and passion to new challenges and opportunities.
