With the Vodacom URC season drawing to a close, the Sharks are placing their bets on 19-year-old Vusi Moyo to shine in the spotlight against Zebre at Kings Park. The young gun, who recently played a key role in the Junior Springboks' triumph at the U20 Rugby Championship, is set to make his starting debut at flyhalf amid Jordan Hendrikse's ongoing injury woes.

In a reshuffled backline, teenage prodigy Zekhethelo Siyaya, after a stellar performance at flyhalf against Benetton, will revert to fullback to cover for the injured Edwill van der Merwe. Meanwhile, Jaco Williams, who filled the fullback slot last Saturday, will move to the No 14 jersey, adding another layer of intrigue to the team's dynamic.

"Looking for a flyhalf was always going to be the talk if Jordan isn’t available,"

said coach Pietersen. He reflected on the past success and current challenges, emphasizing the opportunity for other players to step up. "Hopefully Vusi can put his hand up for us on Saturday."

The Sharks are coming off a commanding 46-7 victory over Benetton, a performance Pietersen hopes to see replicated. "The question for us is always can we back up our last performance? That’s been our season. We haven’t been consistent with our performances, so the challenge to this group is to back up last week’s performance, this week."

Zebre, known for capitalizing on transitions and loose ball scenarios, poses a significant threat. Pietersen is wary of the Italian squad's ability to punish mistakes. The upcoming match holds additional weight as it marks the last game for some players, making a strong performance crucial for a fitting sendoff.

"It’s our last game as a group and some players are leaving, so we want to give them a good sendoff. Vusi’s making his debut so it gives us good motivation to put a good performance together and give our fans something to talk about going into the new season,"

Pietersen concluded, setting the stage for a high-stakes finale. As the Sharks prepare to dive into this battle, all eyes will be on Moyo, who dreams of emulating the likes of Finn Russell, to see if he can indeed make the splash that's been anticipated.
