Trump's antics with the Bible have not been seen favourably by members of the Church in the US.

Trump's most loyal fan base is the Christian conservatives that makeup around 40% of the population.
He loses considerably in all other groups, the remaining 60%. (After the riots and Corona, the 60% are not going to give him many votes, or any at all).

People that go to Church ask their pastors and ministers to speak about everyday events such as politics -  and these pastors have a strong influence on the attendees.

https://religionnews.com/2020/06/01/trumps-bible-walk-to-church-was-an-act-of-sacrilege-says-former-bush-advisor/

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8380149/Trump-doubles-appeal-religion-visiting-national-shrine-Pope-John-Paul-II.html

The Church dogma ideology is filtered down and gives a bias to certain politicians to promote them to Church goers. Trump had their backing in 2016, the silent group. This must be how Beeno was the first one to know about Trump on this board.
However, if Church leaders are not promoting him as much then he will get fewer votes from this 40%.

If the vote was tomorrow Biden should win easily. For Trump to win he needs his 40% to all vote, and ideally not all of the 60% will vote. Trump is keen to get the economy going as that is his other key area. If they both go South, then Trump could get 20% of the votes.

Criticized President Trump after law enforcement officials used rubber bullets, tear gas and officers on horseback to clear out protesters so the president could leave the White House, Lafayette Park to pose with a bible in front of the historic St. Johns' Church, known as the Church of Presidents as every president since James Madison has prayed there.

Haha, Trump has had a number of dumb moments, but parading with a bible like it's some kind of trophy just about trumps them all. It's like when you put a gun in a child's hand and they end up pointing the barrel towards themselves trying to figure out how it works.

Even his staunchest supporters should be able to see this for the cheap stunt that it is. Surely.

Not to mention tear-gassing peaceful protesters on his way to a church (that he never goes to) just to hold up a book (that he never reads) to make himself look like a christian (which he isn't).

Not sure it's quite as stupid as saying the Continental Army took over the airports during the War of Independence . . . or claiming the kidney is a part of the heart . . . or pronouncing the Moon part of the Martian system . . . but it's up there for sure.

Sure the peaceloving Antifa terrorist branch of the Democrats burned a church and loot  shops in the street running past the White House, .  They were told that the meeting was not allowed after dark and when they refused they were removed from the square opposite the White House,   There was in fact no teargas used and the fact is that the leftist media are pushing the Democrats plan to make the country ungovernable.

Support of the looters are criminal.    Trump went to see personally what happened in the facilities opposite the Whitehouse and the local  ministers gave him a bible.  To my mind he went too far by waving the Bible ar ound - but he has had every right to go and see what the Democrats and their riot gangsters did in Washington and cities all over the USA.

Well Trump is correct though in calling what is going on now "domestic terrorism", because that's exactly what it is. A deliberate attempt to destabilize the country, it has fuckall to do with protesting "systemic racism". I wouldn't be surprised at all if George Floyd was a sacrificial lamb to spark all this off.

Apparently 2 Australian TV reporters were also injured.
The people that work in Trump's military unit must be like bouncers in South Africa that are on steroids and want to break people. There is no doubt that many are religious racists that want to hurt people.
Although I do think the demonstrations are pointless.
The police person that murdered George Floyd is going to jail so there will be justice.
George Floyd apparently had recently got out of jail himself, so he is no angel.

What about all the police officers being injured and killed by the rioters? The retired black officer shot down? Black lives matter only when there's political gain for a certain faction, and then they stop mattering?

Get your head out of your ass SB. This is not a protest, it is an assault.

@Pakie, I was just adding some extra comments before your post, I think that puts things into perspective.

P.s At the top of the thread, I also mention this very same perspective, like what happened with the London riots in the UK.

"" I don't support the US riots in any way. Just like I did not support the ones in London, that spread across the UK. If there is a curfew, then if innocent protestors are mixing with violent ones, then some of these "innocent" protestors are going to get hurt"".

However, with Trump, it was not past the curfew. It was very sudden. So there were innocent people that got hurt, including Australian journalists.

If you watch some of the videos, police were chanting in the streets for people to get into their houses. It was a show of force by Trump. It was very sudden as well.

Innocent people are getting hurt because of violent criminals running riot. That's what should be condemned. As for the Trump kneeling on Lady Liberty pictures - are looting, destruction, violence and killing the new liberties that need to be protected?

Saw this on Twitter . . . the figures are actually from 2013 but even if it's changed significantly since then it still adds some perspective . . .

I think everyone knows what happened when George Floyd was arrested and we've seen the dreadful footage, but I'm surprised how few people know what happened prior to the arrest.

To summarize, Floyd bought a packet of cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 dollar bill while in a drunken state. He then got into his car and instead of driving off (as one would normally do if you'd just ripped someone off), he sat in his car outside the shop and smoked a cigarette. By then the store owner (or his nephew to be specific) had found the note to be counterfeit and called the cops. The cops arrived and ordered Floyd out of his car and he complied. The details are a bit sketchy after that depending on where you read, but from what I can gather Floyd was co-operating up until the point that the cops tried to put him into a van and he claimed he was claustrophobic and resisted. That's when the cops lost the plot.

I'm not condoning the cops behaviour for one second, but as stated previously, George Floyd was not the squeaky clean innocent angel he's being portrayed as.

For the record, he wasn't "recently" released from jail as Sharkbok said, he was released from a prison in Houston, Texas in 2014 after serving time for aggravated robbery.

@Pakie,
If reports are to be believed, then the people outside the Whitehouse were innocent bystanders. They were not looting or committing any crime.
All of a sudden the army ran onto the street and started using rubber bullets and tear gas. Some of the people got hurt, including Australian journalists.
The way was cleared for Trump to go to the Church and do his demonstration.
--------This seems very different from people breaking into shops and looting and committing a vast amount of crimes. So it is not really an equal comparison.
If there are riots, then I support the police/army going in and bringing law and order again. I saw the London riots in person, and they were mostly black people. (even though in the UK black people are the minority). They were not only looting shops, but these looters were injuring people walking along the street back from work. In this case, maybe real bullets could be used.
Just in the case of Trump, it seemed to be a show of force.

Fair enough SB, I haven't seen much of that footage, more of the rioters going at it which is something I have no patience or sympathy for.

"If reports are to be believed, then the people outside the Whitehouse were innocent bystanders. They were not looting or committing any crime."

Shark, that's a very big if. The reporting on the left as well as the right has been very dishonest over the last 5 years or so. There are reports of 50 SS agents being injured at the WH the previous day. There is much more to this than peaceful protest about police brutality.

As for Trump's pose with the Bible...I don't like it either...I also did not like how they advertised and exploited his meetings with faith leaders...hypocritical IMO. Trump is not a poster-boy for Christianity at all...but a Church was burned down by "peaceful protesters" the previous day, so the peaceful protesters should probably have gone protesting somewhere else, just to make sure they didn't get confused for the not so peaceful lot of the previous day.

Noticed how the big media outrage about the rubber bullets and teargas have suddenly died down?

Keighley Macaneny explains the incidents at the St Johns Church to.......guess who? Grandstanding tearful Jim Acosta, also claiming the outrageously horrible excessive power exercised on the poor non violent peaceful protesters.

And, in addition there is this, that I posted on Moz’ thread as well. Not a peep from the media:

“Tony Timpa was suffocated by police during an arrest. He screamed “you’re going to kill me.” And they did. As he lay dead, they cracked jokes. There were no riots. Little coverage. You’ve never heard his name because he’s white.”

Looks like, since Trump has kicked Piers Morgan’s behind, he has now decided to try and bury the hatchet with Megan and start licking her arse for some attention.

It's seriously hard to believe how brainwashed and gullible the Trumpanzees are.
Most people know that Piers Morgan and Bozo were on friendly terms up until Morgan finally summoned up some guts and ripped into Bozo for his behaviour during his bizarre Coronavirus briefings, for blurting out a whole load of bullshit that was contrary to what his own scientists were saying, for pushing unproven drugs and for suggesting people inject themselves with disinfectant.
Bozo's response to Morgan's column was to unfollow Morgan on Twitter . . . like a petulant little child.
After Bozo's childish but predictable response, Morgan then posted an "open letter" to Bozo (you can read the full content on this thread) where he also advised Bozo to start getting serious about the pandemic; to show some empathy and compassion; to stop whining about the media; to let the experts talk at the Coronavirus briefings; to stop lying; to stop praising himself; to tweet less rubbish and to stop blaming the Democrats for everything.
So how do our resident Trumpanzees spin all this? How do they interpret Bozo's childish and sulky behaviour after Morgan exposed him for the incompetent, self-serving and deceitful fool that he is? They say "Trump has kicked Piers Morgan’s behind" is how the delusional, brainwashed and terminally stupid morons interpret it. Not the other way around, they are saying it was Bozo kicking Morgan's arse . . . and they're not even joking!
LMAO!

For starters Clinton didn't need a riot squad to clear a pathway to the church .........  he holds the bible in the appropriate manner, not back to front & upside down like your clown prez. Clinton looks presidential while trompie resembles the desperate auctioneer

I'm guessing the other difference is that Clinton has actually opened a bible before while Bozo hasn't . . . and wouldn't be capable of reading the content even if he wanted to . . . which he doesn't.

If you want some idea of how much Bozo really cares about the bible, think back to his inauguration when he seriously suggested (without any sarcasm) the possibility of being sworn in using his pathetically stupid book "The Art of the Deal" rather than the bible.

"For starters Clinton didn't need a riot squad to clear a pathway to the church."

Yes, Clinton also never suffered the biggest and most orchestrated smear campaign against a US president ever.

He did get his dick sucked by an intern, try to end her career and then lie to the American public about it.

And we'd all still have thought she was crazy were it not for DNA evidence.

Now I wonder if Trump did that...dem pussy hats would lose their pussy minds.

They should send all the Africans living in the States back to their motherland.

Let them come this side and cry to their leaders about all the injustices experienced at the hand of the white man. See if it compares to how these natives treat their own people.

They'll soon see that their motherland is nothing but a shit hole ... with potholes, load shedding, rampant fraud, police brutality and collapsing economies.

They should stop crying and be grateful for the land they live in and the man leading them, instead of the spineless fool we have here.
