for is a draw, POMS are stacking up for a 300+ score perhaps even 400 unless something dramatic happens and they lose some cheap wickets. Then it's high time the lads start to value their wicket and vasbyt their way to a win.

It is raining today in Riversdale and maybe also in Cape Town.   A draw is the best the Proteqas can hope for.

Guess what, we've had just a wee bit of rain in Sydney and there's also been a bit of rain in some bush fire-affected areas. Here's hoping we get some more over a wide spread area. There's no rain forecast for Cape Town.

Forgot to tell you, Brendan Lerena now rides in Oz, in total there are 5 SAFFA jockeys over here at the moment, Mark Du Plessis, Robbie Fraad. Brendan Vorster, Lerena and last but not least, Glyn.

Thanks for the info Denny.

How is the bushfire smog in Sydney?

Further bad news - Nortje is unwell and will not bowl today.   He is really the only effective bowler the Proteas had in the present test,

The bushfire smog has reached the north island of NZ where Cloudy lives. The bushfires in Sydney are under control, the rain we've received is not a lot, just enough to wet the parched dead leaves and brush. The problem is our summer has only just started, no-one knows if the worst is yet to come. The economic impact is going to be felt for years to come.

We need a miracle in the cricket, it's panning out as anticipated.

Nortje came in to bowl three overs and he took one wicket.

The Proteas needs 438 to win with 125 overs remaining.

At this stage they have 46/0 and they need another 392 runs.

At this stage in the first innings the Proteas had lost 3 wickets for 41 runs,  I would say that they are doing a lot better than in that innings.

Elgar is out for 34 runs - he still is below par and that was just not good enough.  He now scored 134 runs in four innings for an average of 34.5 runs per innings.

Hamza is out for 18 - score now 123/2.   He was just not good enough.   Maharaj is the noght watchman.

End of day 4  - the score is  126/2.

Better than I expected,

Send de Kock in next to have a dash and if he comes off chase the target, if not Faf, Malan and Rassie can close up shop

It's not good, we needed the top three to hold up, at least one centurion and at worst another scoring 50+

Day 4 honours belong to the POMS.

If the Proteas don't or can't show an appetite to bat then Tests 3 and 4 are a foregone conclusion.

I would save QdK till 20 overs into the second new ball. That's in about 50 overs. If Malan, Rassie and Faf can get us there and stay with him a bit , we might have a chance...my spidy senses are tingling...I hope...go boys!!!
