for scoring the highest number of runs scored  (237) in any WC ODI.

However, will that be the same in the semi-final against SA?

Since 2011  Guptill played in 10 ODI's against SA - both at home and away and his score card for the 10 matches is as follows:-

Total Runs scored   =    120

Total balls faced     =    323

Strike rate             =     37,15

RPO                      =      2,2

Half Centuries         =      1

Ducks                    =      2

Less than 10 runs    =      5

11 - 30 runs           =      2

 That is somewhat of a dismal scorecard against SA over 10 matches and signs are not positive that the situation would change from the past especially since in the latest 3 matches between the two countries (October 2014 and February 2015)  Guptill scored 42 runs from 109 balls faced at a strike rate of  38,53 - rpo 2,3.

He has been a weak link in the NZ batting line up in ODI's against SA.  Will he be different on Tuesday?

With respect - I think it is wise to be modest in this case.   In the game South Africa played against the Windies at Sydney ground - a much more difficult ground to score runs at  because of size - the scores were as follows:-
SA               -     408 for 5WI               -     151Win Margin    -     256
In the NZ quarterfinal the score was as follows:-
NZ               -     393 for 6WI               -     250Win Margin    -     142

Nice game to watch and see a player scoring big runs.
I think most supporters cannot wait for the game on Tuesday - much anticipated.
Based on performances in the WC thus far - especially the Quarterfinals - I think the winning chances in the semi's will be as follows:-
SA 60%NZ 40%
Aus 50%India 50%
Would not take a bet on the outcome of the second semi.   However the above could be affected by the pitch preparation for the game.  Pitches are prepared to fit the playing style of the local teams - not the visiting teams.  For example the game between New Zealand and Australia a few weeks back.   They may use the same pitch for the game on Tuesday and then the result becomes a lottery ticket.

 Right so based on the performances so far where South Africa lose two matches in group play and New Zealand go through undefeated and hammer the windies in their quarter final you put South Africa in as favourites...that has nothing to so with performance and facts and everything to do with your own bias, like the majority of your posts.

 Mozart - the Supreme Idiot
Afer I wrote favourably at the performance of Guptill in the game against the West Indies - I looked at the future - n ot the past in which the supreme idiots dwell .
I gave a factual account of Guptill's performances against SA over a three year period - that is not trashing  - it is factual.   However, facts are not the strong point of the supreme idiot Mozart.   He dwells in cloud 9 issues all the time.
I hope for Guptill's sake he performs better than he did in the past in the quarterfinal - but have serious doubts if his past record against SA is anything to go by.
