Assume that you've just arrived at a club as a gender-neutral but nonetheless promising bat.

You kit up.

Your instructions;

Score as many runs as possible in front of square on the leg side.

You're bowled 50 balls with 25 of them being slightly short and outside of the off-stump.

What aspect of the player would the coach be attempting to learn more about in the above scenario?

I know that you'll get this wrong...

You’re assuming the terms….square, short and off-stump are familiar to the Quisling

Cumon, Dentsie If I’m asking you to pull in front of square from outside off…what am i trying to learn about you? I’ll give you a clue. It’s what alerted the world to KP’s talent when his bat won England that famous Ashes series against OZ in the UK. He was pulling the ball, almost off of the front foot, in front of square on the leg side. What did it say about him? It’s damn funny because i know that you have exactly ZERO idea while everybody else that has played the game would be able to give me the answer in a heartbeat. I also know that if you knew the answer you’d be all over it.
