Elgar retiring from c ricket

He had some good performances over the years - but I believe he was leaving retirement too late.  

My besyt wishes to him for a prosperous and nice future career.

Thank you Elgar for some great moments on the field and may you have a very succesfull career in whatever you do next.

He had some grit, and he served us well when needed, but he's probably our least inspiring/talented opener ever...

I wanted to see what Bedigham would bring to the table......I like what I see, composed, good shot selection, leaves well and knows when to pull the trigger. Welcome back son, a fine batsman indeed and just what the Proteas need. 

Elgar was never a favourite of mine so I need to ask where has this Jekyll been......commentators Pommie and Shaun Pollack were lavish in their praise of the makeover Dean Elgar. Seems like he's had a hard look at his game, don't know whether he's had a coach to work with him but his straight drives as Shaun remarked has never been better. Physically he looks in great shape so he's obviously worked on his fitness as well. 

Someone needs to talk him out of retiring, there's a few more cricketing years in him if he follows his new him.

I saw an interview with him...there's not enough test matches scheduled for it to be viable to continue playing in South Africa...he needs to earn more in his last few remaining years than what he would be able to earn in South Africa...he's off to play county cricket.

remember, he don't play white ball cricket for SA...and the test schedule for South Africa has dried up considerably over the last few years...only a few tests a year...mostly 2 test series'.
