First ODI - England vs SA

S o the match was played today ad what hapened. England made 131 runs all out and in came the Protead to bat Nad Markram made 86 rums from 55 balls and when he goes out the Proteas needed 6 rans to win from 30 overs with Riclelton flounderting around on 31 rus from 58 balls, Then came in Bavuma making 6 runs and he score is tied at 31 runs when Bacuma awasout making 6 rns from 6 balls and iut went he, In came Stubbs and out for a duck/ In came Brewis - ognored the first ball and hit the next one for a 6. Match ended in over 22.

The commentators said "So endeth a non-contest".

The MOM was Maharaj taking 4 wickets with an economy rate of 4 followed by Mulder taking 3 wickets with the economy rate bring 4,71.

Hope the second ODI on Thursdy is much more entertaining - with the first one being a non-contest,

When's the last time 'Stubbedout' scored decent runs, can you remember? He's joined Bavuma in the act of non performance in white ball cricket.

No idea what is up with Stubbs.

He needs to be dropped for a few games in the hope that he can gain confidence and not try to hit the cover off each ball bowled to him.

But an excellent start to the series against England for the Proteas.

I expect to see a very different England on Thursday in ODI 2.

I called for Donavan Ferriera's inclusion a while ago, glad to see he's now part of the squad and I hope he gets a show.

A big hitting batsman at the back end of the order, Klusener like, who leans towards going aerial. I thought Marco Jansen would fulfill that role but not so, Ferreira will.

One cannot trust Markram to be consstent - he made some good runs yesteday - bt consistency is not his normal form. I am also disappointed in Rickelton who was batting at a snail pace yesterday, .

I would like to see Ferreira in the squad with Pretorius opening the batting ibnstead of Rickelton. Then we also have mini AB that should bat at 3 and tubbs being a serious batting failure, And it is way past time for the 35 year old Bavuma to play in test cricket only - his role in the shorter versions of the game is a real joke in bad taste.

By the way if Brewis batted at 3 the match yesterday would have been finished in 16 overs - not 21 overs.

I hope tomorrow that the team would exclude Rickelton, Bavuma and Stubbs to be replaced by Pretorius, and Ferreira and anybody capable to bat properly. . .

You're not wrong, Markram is an underachiever. I didn't think there were any demons in the wicket, easy on the eye, I won't say batting friendly but still a nice pitch to bat on. You're not wrong about Rickleton either, I detect at least one licking flaw plus he's also not showing signs of progress. If he keeps going the way he's going it won't be long before he's worked out and from thereon it's goodnight Sarah!

Instead of Pretorius opening the innings what about the inform opener Breeztke instead? and perhaps Pretorius at 3?

Think if Ferreira comes good then he'll be the ideal replacement for Miller.

Also think Burger is the real deal ahead of Ngidi and Bosch needs to settle and with some experience could be a worthwhile addition.

I see no place for Stuffed-out.

Just an early warning, Rickelton will become the newest dartboard......it will start slowly and build momentum, a minor error is all that's needed for our resident Bitterbal to build an agenda. You might regret giving him a tick.
