I was just reading about this, blob. And what a charming individual he appears to be, if there is a grain of truth in the tale. Then again, why anyone would want to marry him in the first place....

Oh, and I now see she was actually a backing singer for " Jedward " ???
If two little kids weren't caught up in this, it would just be darned hilarious !

Well, blob, I think he really comes across as being both stupid and unpleasant, if there is any truth in all this.

One of my favourite cricketers of all time.
He was the first SAFFA cricketer to stick a finger at the Aussies in such a way that that actually felt hurt.
He didnt give a damn who was bowling to him or which team he was playing, he always believed 100% that he and his team were the best!

  1. Don't forget what we achieved under his captaincy.
  2. Dont forget how many matches he saved and won for us when we were in a dire situation.
  3. Don't ever forget the day he walked out to bat to save the test with a broken hand.

For all his technical shortcomings, he was fantastic at the top of our battign order. Not many test openers can play over 100 tests, captain the test side to number 1 and still average close on 50!

So please, before we comment on his marital habits, lets always remember what he has done for us on the cricket field.

Well said bob and Flas. Thee was some rebuttal made by Smith on all thais but I cant find the article now.He always came accross very well, was a fine captain and had a very successful career. why some jealous folk cant stop slagging him off beats me.
I suspect his wife was a model golddigger?

Trust Becs to start slagging him off. No mention of the tricks that she got up to. By all accounts she got him to end his pro cricket career to be with her and the kids and as soon as he ended it all she started her singing career all over again. Maybe she was pissed off because she was/is such a crap artist that she was forever going to be known as the wife of Graeme Smith, the cricket hero, and not the other way round.

Well said Vlag, I find the comments offensive, it's a personal matter, no-one knows what's transpired to bring about such a sad ending and quite frankly I don't believe anyone has a right to slag off any of the parties. Furthermore it's no-ones damn business.

Well I understand Graeme, when you have a beautiful wife (probably even more beautiful than she even looks) you give up everything because that what makes you a real man...Graeme, fight for her and stuff public press, hearsay and lies...she is a woman and needs you and not your cricket!

Seb, you are missing something. He did give up his cricketing career but then she turned around hit the road with her career. He needs her and not her singing career, one might argue.

 Ex Sport 24

Cape Town - Former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith has hit back at reports that he mistakenly informed Morgan Deane of their divorce on Sunday.

Sunday Times report claims that Smith’s ex-wife, Morgan Deane, received a text message from the former Test captain which was initially intended for his lawyer.

The text message supposedly specified Smith's intentions to end the marriage after initially denying this to Deane when she allegedly confronted him about it.

The newspaper article further reports that friends close to Deane have claimed that Smith had a penchant for the limelight, finds her boring and says she is a nag when she asks him to spend time with his family.

However, Smith has since released a statement to dispel these reports.

"It is disappointing that certain segments of the media have chosen to publish speculation and accusations as regards the means and manner of our marriage breakdown," the statement read.

"Naturally it is tempting to respond, however other than to deny the accusations that have been published, I have chosen not to comment.

"Hopefully people will respect that.

" My intention remains to act with dignity and respect throughout this process for the wellbeing of my children and my family."

Smith announced his divorce to Deane last month, after marrying Deane in Cape Town in August 2011.

Their daughter, Cadence Christine Smith, was born on July 25 2012.

A year later, the Smith's welcomed a boy, Carter McMorrin Smith, on July 15, 2013.

I don't have a lot of interest in this gossip column nonsense but for the record, my sympathies are with the wife . . . although having said that, she was dumb enough to marry a conceited self-worshipper.

I always liked Graeme Smith as a batsman, I thought he was a pretty ordinary captain and as a person he looks like a complete and utter knob.

The irony.............. What makes you think that my marriage of almost 37 years needs fixing, and what makes you think that it is any of your f//.,,ing business ?

I'm beginning to enjoy this post...maybe we should all clean up our own house first before pointing any fingers to a celebrety who has the same problems in life...in fact the more accolades you aquire in life are probably due to your spouse who lovingly supports you.

Women are great and make all of us men it does not wor k the other way round...watch Hyenas

 You know I have a simple philosophy opposite;

!) I love em
2) Treat with respect
3) Communicate witrh them
4)Never lie to them, in fact never deceive anybody...they hate that and see it as weakness...which it is.

Women like a man to be stable and strong...a foundation where they can practise love freely...when you fail...tell them quickly, don't let them find out the ugly way.
5) Love is being truthfull...no women will leave you if you are truthfull upfront and carry out the simple 3 requirements.
