IPL Auction 2021

The IPL is a huge source of income for players all over the world.    Players apply to be listed and then put on a final list.  There were 1079 applicants this year nd of those 292 were placed on the auction list.   

The auction will be held tomorrow. 

There were 38 who applied from SA and the following were listed with an * listed of players who might get bids:-

Chris Morris                        -  Rajasthan Royals    - 1625  Lakh  =   R32,762 million

Rassie van der Dussen        -   No Bid

Wayne Parnell                     -   APF   (all positions filled)

Beuran Hendricks                -   APF

Andile Phehlukwayo           -    APF

Daryn Dupavillon               -     APF

Morne Morkel                     -     APF

George Linde                      -     NB

Dwaine Pretorius                -     APF

David Wiee                        -      APF                        

Gerald Coetzee                  -       NB

Jacques Snyman                -       APF

Marco Jansem                   -       Mumbai Indians    20 Lakh        

The following two players who were borne in SA will also be on the list:-

There are already the following SA Players retained by their clubs and on their list of players:-

AB, Rabada, Nortje, De Kock, Miller, Tahir and Du Plessis

Steve Smith was sold for 220 lakh to Delhi Capitals

Glenn Maxwell was sold for 1425 lakh to Bengalore/  

Moeen Alli was sold to Chennai Super Kings for 700  Lakh

Dawid Malan was sold for 220 lakh to Kings 11 Punjab

Jhye Richardson (AUS) was sold for 1400 lakh to Kings 11 Punjab/

The Indians must be mad to bid that on Morris - so far the most expensive  player sold,   Kyle Jamieson vame second and Glenn Maxwell came third ..

Steve Smith lost 880 lakh in income - that  means  about R18 million/      

So the following SA Players will be in the  IPL this year:-

AB, Rabada, Nortje, De Kock, Miller, Tahir, Du Plessis, Chris Morris and Marco Jansen  

The Clubs were obviously not interested in most SA players on the auction list - bar the two players who attracted bits,    If Jansen does well he would be in a few years a very wealthy person.

As to the other  Protea players - past and present - they were all written off by the clubn as failures and  that shows how piss poor team selection in SA
