A recent report indicate that SA is one of the options to be considered as a venue for next years IPL. The reason given was that the Indian national and state elections will be held in the April - May period next year and elections in India can be a dicey affair.
In the past the only full IPL held outside of India was in South Africa. Some IPL matches were played in the UAE - but there are too few pitches to cater for all the games and the costs of hosting the tournament in the UAE will also be a huge factor.
Part of the reason is that the weakness of the Rand makes it an attractive proposition for Indian supporters.
Apparently the matter is still being considered by the Indian Cricket Board - but a decision will have to be taken soon - since there will be serious administrative problems involved in accommodation and other aspects should the games be held in SA .
