Funny thing… Though we are busy in a serious transition phase, has anyone, besides Michael, noticed how high our top 5 batsmen’s batting averages aren’t odis? All of QdK, Malan, Bavuma, van der Dussen and Miller all average over 40. I think only Miller averages below 44!

Chippo

You are on the spot - but there are a few problems as well:-

*    Bavuma had a massive contribution he made in an ODI match against Ireland.    There was no repea and his average has already come down from 68 to 44..   In view of the smallish number of ODI's he played in the likelihood is that his rating will drop to the mid-thirties;

*     Van der Dussen will also not look good and may also lose a point or 2:

*    I don't know why - but  there are indications that he is in a slump situation and one wonders if  he would recover since he is already 32 years of age.

Mike, this batting slump you speak of, can you clarify it? I'm struggling to find it.

His last 7 scores have been:

95,38*,5,123*,60,49,30

At an average of 80.

Against the likes of Australia, England, Pakistan and Ireland.

I suppose the Australia, England, Pakistani attacks aren't what they used to be.

Apologies - I thought the Irsish ODI's were not in the stats  - but on checking found they were. in fact in.   Apologies - but my remark as to  van der Dussen I was wrong anyway.   I should have checked anyway - which I did not do when writing the above.

This is how it looks when I go to it...

Well, those numbers correspond with mine, not sure where you got the earlier ones from. No matter.

Hi Denny

The stats further up are for van der Dussen.

The ones 2 posts up are for Bavuma, which are correct.

Hope that clarifies.

That is a very white side. But it isn’t bad. I think this domestic season will reveal a few new stars to us.

Lol Quotas for life.

At some point we'll have to admit that quotas no longer have anything to do with the effects of apartheid.

Rather, and perhaps obviously for a political party dominated by low IQ leaders, it's about having bought into a socialist "equity" system which has never worked in the past and will never work in future.

It's the exact mentality that we see play out daily where one eats bread daily simply to afford a smart car. All superficial with no long term benefit and only the very dumb would ever see it as a good strategy.

Lay stupid games and win the stupidest of prizes. And I hope the prizes continue to be stupid and painful for many decades to come. Keep bumping that head and hopefully one day, if ever...long after I'm dead, this content realises what the rest if the world realised sixty years ago.

The limitation on discrimination within the constitution is purely there to allow for corrective measure post apartheid. When it uses the term "unfairly" it allows for fair discrimination.

When a black kid is educated in a private school, has all the best coaches and wealthy parents, and is then picked for the national side purely because he's black...well we know that doesn't constitute fair discrimination.

"Equity" my ass.
