1 and 3 Are interesting....glad to see the Windies making the quarters. It's all about handling pressure and a touch of luck from hereon in, the past means nothing.

Go Da Proteas!

The Windies can make the quarters only if Pakistan beats the Irish.   If Ireland wins the order will be as follows:-
1  India2  SA3  Ireland4  Pakistan
If Pakistan beats Ireland the order will be -
1  India2  SA3  Pakistan4  Windies.
It all hinges around the match still in progress.  The Irish are batting and has been 155 for 4 last time I looked at the start of the second power play - over 35.

Denny Ireland made 237 runs - so Pakistan needs 238 runs to take Ireland out of the equation.  If they lose they are out of the WC and the Windies goes through.
I think they will win and your equation as given above would be confirmed.

Mike, In case you don't know, Australia does have television coverage of the CWC. By that I mean we do get to see every game, live. But thanks for letting me know how many runs Ireland scored and thanks also  for raising the gross improbability of an Irish win.

100% correct.  so what will SA produce in the quarter-finals against SriLanka.  They beat them with ease in a series in SriLanka and beat them in the warm-up game as well - so logic says they should beat them.
But they had a horrific display against India and Pakistan - two teams they also beat in their latest series against them.
Problem centers to my mind around De Kock as an opener.   In all three series mentioned he was in top form - in this tournament he was totally out of form - not timing hitting the ball well enough.  The answer may be to open the batting with Rossouw - but Rossouw is a star middle order batter and may make a flop as an opener.
So what is going to happen on Wednesday?   I hope we win - and lets all hope so as well.

Those are the predictions everyone is bargaining on - but there has been upsets in the past and big ones as well.
So lets hope there are no upsets and the top four teams in each group goes through.  My own comments are -
*   SA - Srilanka = I think we should win that one*   India - BanglaDesh = India should win easily*   Australia - Pakistan = Australia should win, but it also depends which Pakistani team turns up*   New Zealand - West Indies = New Zealand should win,  but it also depends which Windies team turns up.
My hesitation about Australia is that they lost badly against the Pakistani's in their last series and if they are not at their best they can get run over.

NZ just smashed Pakistan in a one day series before the world cup. NZ also beat them over in Pakistan. However Aussie had real issues with Pakistan. So depending on the pitch conditions and the weather. Pakistan could be a real problem for Aussie if they don't show up. They diddn't againgst NZ and NZ bowling attack maybe Southee and Bolt the best bowling attack in the world cup teared their batting lineup to threads. Now Pakistan don't have a boult or a southee in terms of combination. But they got solid bowlers, good fielding side too. Sr Lanka have Sangakara, real danger man, prob the best batter at the world cup so far. The best shot of the world cup so far is prob Williamson six to win the game, context is everything. If SA play like they did againgst Pakistan Sr Lanka well win. All goes to plan Semis should be
Semi Final 1:
India V Aus
Semi Final 2:
NZ v SA
Final:
? v ?

Fact is anything can happen. If we lose between now and wining the final the Prot eas will be labbled chokers! Other sides who lose will simply be said to have lost.
I must also point out certain posters were saying our wins against the Windies ment zip. But here the Windies are in the quarters. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. If Gayle comes off they may make the semis.

The Tamil Tigers have so me serious fitness issues with their bowlers hence the reason they got smacked around after Malinga finished his spells.
