Looks like same scenario as against WI...wouldn't be surprised if SA do a huge score once again...Amla and FDP setting the grounding once more...will AB give another mammoth performance once again. Not sure of the Canberra wicket though?

Cannot find much on the pitch though...Manuka Oval really a small capacity ground used mainly for Aussie Rules Football but found this comment:

Not many games have been hosted by Manuka Oval - which makes it difficult to gauge how the pitch may play. But looking at history, it is traditionally a very good batting wicket.

De Kock has had enough chances now. Either drop him or drop him down the order.

Agree. JP Duminy's injury provides the perfect opportunity to open with Rilee Rossouw and drop QdK down to 6 or 7 where he can get his confidence back.

Both Amla and FDP well over centuries each...what a platform...their best bowler Mooney has had only 5 overs with 2 maidens, I guess he's been kept back but a definite lost cause with AB and Rilee in reserve. Another whitewash but from now on the other matches are going to be a lot different and the acid test.

AB's gone, a test for Miller and Rossouw.

Rossouw is starting to live up to the hype. I just hope that Hash, AB and the others can replicate these big innings when it counts against strong opposition.

Dream on bluebok. They wouldn't be the Proteas if they didn't look great in the group stages only to choke when the pressure is on.

If that ball never ended up in Amla's armpit it could've got stuck in his beard .

Unlikely de Kock will find his form in this WC. I suppose one good knock could help, but it seems increasingly unlikely....especially up front with his clearly flawed huge gap between bat and pad.
If we want to win AB should take the gloves, and we need to find an opener who can be effective in the next match.

Abbott has been a little better so far, Rossouw especially and Miller to some extent have looked good. Amla and AB are as good as any in the game. Steyn got it up to 149 ks today.
But we can't afford this weakness at opening bat.

And yet again. Total failure up till now 26 off 45 balls against the oil farmers.

Enough is enough. Either give AB the gloves and drop QdK or else at least bat this failure at 8 or 9! Dale Steyn looks more likely to score runs than QdK.

We saw today against the UAE that the Proteas now have quite a few excellent fielders and with Faf also back in the team, there is no longer a desperate need to have AB in the field also and he can and should again put on the gloves with QdK dropping out of the team.

AB seems set to become our next all rounder ... lol

My team for the QF would be:

Amla and Rossouw

Faf

AB

Miller

Duminy

Abbott

Philander

Morkel

Steyn

Tahir

At this stage, it would be better to just leave QDK out altogether. If he cannot get it together when he opens and has lots of time, imagine if he has to come  in at no 7  or  8 and the chips are down and he has to score at a run+ per bowl right from the word "go"?

How many shots does a non-performer get...4...that's bordering on ridiculous...if we have this attitude of gamble moving into the quarters then we must throw the bones.

This is the desperate measures one sees in SA sport (applies to rugby as well)...structure and positive objectivity is lacking. No game plan and lets hope for the best on isolated players is our problem...once we learn to play as united players that are accountable to the side, ie to each other...Australia and NZ do it in rugby and India, Sri Lanka , NZ and Oz certainly do it in cricket.

The very sad aspect about us, we have the gifted players but there's something missing somewhere...have lost pride or are our boys lost in the professional age...we always did better when money wasn't the issue...can we take pressure...have we the right mentors and coaches...do our administrators know how to run a sport business...do politics affect us???

I don't know why...the killer instinct and the heart seems to have a few dents in it...are we strong and winners??? or are we chokers???

Or are we bumblers and chokers...sure we won 2 RWC's but will we win the next one?...will we win this cricket WC...I really hope I'm horribly wrong but I certainly wouldn't place my life on it and not even my money?

I agree, Quinton is not worthy in the side and yes giving AB the gloves is an intelligent decision...I hope the selectors can restructure and prepare for the quarters, this hurdle will be a tough one, the semis will a lot tougher and the final will be the hardest trial of all...no passengers are afforded.

Seb, it's too late now, these questions should have been answere 2 years ago. Looking back, I think that's why Gary resigned.
