Cullinan was an extremely gifted bat until he came up against Warne. He had a test average of 44, lowered by the fact that he averaged 12 against Oz or should I say Shane. Daryl was dubbed Shane’s bunny Ironic that he died on Daryl’s birthday

Denny
I do not want to comment on the above - but read an article in which experts state that the heart attack was the result of a liquid diet Warne used to lose weight.   That diet ended the day before the departure on holiday.
In the period  he was following the liquid diet Warne apparently suffered from chest pains and  the doctor concerned warned him to discontinue the diet, since it could le ad to heart problems.
If the above comments in the article is true - his behavior in refusing the  advice of experts  caused the heart attack.

Mike the liquid diet would not have caused the heart attack. He had been on a liquid diet many times before apparently

Exactly right Dave. Warnie was a smoker if one is looking for the cause of his heart attack. But to me these blogs are about the celebration of him as a brilliant bowler not about a boring lecture on what may or may not have caused his heart attack and that he'd brought on himself.

Read a quote of Warnie's which went like this..."I danced, I drank, I partied and in between it all I played a bit of cricket"

I am glad to see that both Dave and Denny agree on one topic and disagree with the experts that warned Warne repeatedly against liquid diets and said that shortage of potassium caused by liquid diets cause  heart problems.

I myself  smoke in an effort to shorten my life expectancy - I do not want to live beyond 83/84 - but so far has no heart or longue problems I am aware of.   In three months time I will be 80 - so there is still 3 to 4 years in which I could develop same.

The Backstroke

Author: Non Swimming Coach

The Backstroke is the reverse of the Freestyle.

Two most important things in Backstroke is

a) Head position b) How the hand enters the water

But for me there's the equally important c) Hip Rotation

a) The correct position of the head is when the eyes focus on the ceiling of the pool. Breath as often as possible through the mouth blowing through the nose.

b) The hands can enter the water in the 12 o'clock position Pinkie first, starting with an unbent elbow.  b1) The hands can also enter the water in the 11 o'clock /1 o'clock position. It's very important that the hands do not cross over the head which is a common bad technique in backstroke swimming. Corkscrewing the arm as it exits the water eliminates the habit.

c) The hip roll starts as the hand exits the water and aligns with the shoulder so as to form one position. Avoid over rotation.

d) The kick is to the side and starts from the hip, kicking is not above the water. The lower leg is slightly bent and the feet are pointed. Bicycle kicking occurs when the knee protudes in a V shape, a common problem to be avoided.

Speed is driven by the timing of the co-ordinates.
