Losing a test on Day 1 just takes the fun out of it for everybody.

That was a fizzy pitch before lunch….the ball that got Dussen for example got really steep. After lunch it eased down but we had no batters of note left, although Rabada is playing nicely.

If they get past 250…the series is level.

Day 3 should be the best for batting weather wise...we probably expected a few runs more in the 1st innings though...difficult to get it right in fluctuating conditions...and our batting has been suspect for a while now...

Just watched the extended highlights. Momentum aside, how on earth does one choose to bat in those conditions? Suicide!!!

Our batting side is super shit Markram all the talent in the world but just keeps failing Elgar, Erwee and Rassie are over the hill and bog ordinary Petersen is 29, what’s the point Verryenne has been a major disappointment at test level We have a great bowling attack with no bats

…and Bavuma is still to return in all his BEE glory. Also those Smith critics are awefully quiet right now. Verryenne is fine Saffex, he’ll come good. Petersen got some lucky runs previously in an innings where he should have been out multiple times. He’s got shots but i doubt he’ll be breaking any records. Rassie is the most stable mid-order bat we have atm. I’m not an Elgar fan though. For all his fight and doggedness, he remains ordinary with an ordinary average. Markram was supposed to be the guy the team bat around. That ship has sailed too. At this point, we should probably make Kagiso the skipper and roll the dice on a fresh start with batters. Brevis, Rickleton, Malan, Verryenne, Stubbs and Rassie. Could be a decent core and play all formats too.
