England won he toss and decided to bat first,   England now has 157/3 after 48 overs and they seem to do very well.

There seems to be a youngster by the name of Nandre Burger bowling and he seems to be quite a decent bowler.   Since Bavuma is out as a result of injury they brought in a batsman by the name of Neil Brand - cannot be too hot since he played 2nd Division cricket for Glamorgan and Somerset.   Burger is 24 years old and Brand 23.

On the bowling side special mention must be made of Sipamla - he bowled thus far 11 overs  (2 maidens) giving away 28 runs

I am not particularly interested in the game thus far - would like to see how the SA batsmen perform

I liked the look of Sipamla when I saw him - lovely easy action like KG and also tall

Not too bad an effort keeping England down to 4 an over.......but now let's see how they bat

Dane Piedt would be in my top 5 of useless spin bowlers .

Reeza Hendriks failed as expected

Malan was average at best

KG Petese n is doing very well

Rudi Seconds is above what was expected,

The next two batsmen are really to be looked at,

Looks like the game is being played on a flat track everyone is making runs - well just about everyone

So far Rudi Seconds is out - scored good runs - but at a vey slow run rate (48,67) and in the alst four overs the situation as to run scoring was as follows:-
Petersen   -   over 66   =   balls faced    0    runs scored   0                     over 67   =   balls faced    3    runs scored   2                     over 68   =   balls faced    0    rims scored   0                     over 69   =   balls faced    6    runs scored   2                     over 70   =   balls faced    4    runs scored   0
Verreyne   -  over 66   =   balls faced    6    runs scored   4                     over 67   =   balls faced    3    runs scored   1                     over 68   =   balls faced    6   rims scored   12                     over 69   =   balls faced    0    runs scored   0                     over 70   =   balls faced    2    runs scored   1
So Petersen  = 13 balls faced  scoring 4 runsSo Verreyne = 17 balls faced  scoring 18 runs.
What a star the latter will be.  Verreyne  is out after scoring 74  runs from 88 balls faced.  Strike rate 85,09.   It will be a national disgrace if Verreyne is not selected for the test starting on Boxing Day.

The match was drawn after the English made 456/7 and the A'Team making 355/5.

I think the four standout players were -

*    Bowlers   -   Sipamla and Burger

*    Batsmen  -    Petersen and Verreine

Petersen made 111 runs at a strike rate of 46,25 - Verreyne made 74 runs at a strike rate of 84,09.   Still think Verreyne is the better bat sman of the two,

Verreynne should definitely be starting the test but unfortunately he is not even in the squad. Let’s hope Boucher changes that soon

Dave

There is a vacancy in the squad since Bavuma is injured.    I would select Verreyne to replace Bavuma in the squad.
