It is very difficult to come up with real determinations this early - we will have to wait a few weeks more.
Letsw face facts in each pool the teams must play 6 matches and in the case of the Proteas -
* the mnext three matches are in Australia (Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra); and
* the remaining 2 in New Zeland
In essence the New Zealand pitches - like Hamilton - do not favour our fast bowlers - they are low and slow and our batters also struggled to get runs under those conditions - especially since they are used to faster pitches. These pitches are very similar to Zimbabwe pitches - that is why they thrive on them.
I think the top two log positions in Pool B is going to be determined on Sunday in the Melbourne game between India and SA. We have beaten India badly in three ODI's last year on pitches more similar to Melbourne and I favour SA to win that ODI.
The remaining five matches are against The Windies, The Emirates, Pakistan and Ireland and I cannot see us losing against any of those four teams.
My prediction for the other pool is as follows:-
1 Australia
2 New Zealand
3 England
4 SriLanka
Se lets wait and see what happens on Sunday.
Just as an aside - the only way we can lose agiant India is if Behardien is in the match day team.
