No matter what happens from here its been a good start by McCulum. Taking Steyn apart.

I'm worried. The rain definitely favoured the Black Caps as we lost prime slogging overs. I'm not sure we have enough and McCullum has given them a real shot at getting these runs.

Congrats, you've got my support in the final, and I suspect most of SA as well!

Did we choke?
I've always maintained you can only be accused of choking if you lose the game from a winning position and it was always going to be a tough task to restrict the Kiwi batsmen . . . but there was one moment when the game appeared to be ours.
The last ball of the second last over . . . 14 runs needed from 7 deliveries, Morkel bowls and Elliott gets a top edge and skies it down to fine leg. While that ball was in the air we were the favourites . . . but Behardien didn't call (or didn't call loud enough), Duminy crashed into him and the catch was grassed. That was our chance. We blew it. We choked . . . again!

Thanks lads, the hardest of luck, sport can be so cruel sometimes, really feel for you and your team....but SUPER STOKED to get the win.

Not a choke in my opinion...hang on, just read Rooi's post, maybe a little choke.

Well done Black Caps. I said early in the competition that they are the team to beat and the Proteas nearly did it.

An awesome game in doubt until that 2nd last ball.Hard luck to SA fans. I think McCullum's start got us well ahead and the accumulation of runs in the middle of our innings was much easier as a result. Elliott sure had a cool head at the end as did Dan the Man!

The commentators mentioned that it was very hard to hear anything around the stadium over the crowd noise. Behardien may have called - maybe Duminy simply couldn't hear over the noise of 30,000 people going utterly bananas.
A much bigger blunder in my opinion was De Kock earlier not gloving the throw to run out Elliot. It was an accurate throw that required a simple catch and stump, but somehow the ball managed to go right through his gloves. Unacceptable at this level.
Not to mention Steyn bowling a wide long hop to a guy on 78 who needed a boundary on a tiny ground. Christmas in March for Elliot, and from my side all hope lost that the Proteas will ever master the art of death bowling.
No choke. We just didn't have enough quality to beat the Kiwis. They absolutely deserved the win.
