Admittedly the ball was moving. Unfortunately we were so loose in our bowling at the start,  the movement didn’t matter. And as we tightened up Kohli played a masterful innings, granted he was dropped by de Kock down the leg side….but that apart he was flawless.

Our batsmen looked like deer in the headlights. Nobody looked vaguely competent….and some looked terrified out there. Disappointing.

We probably still make the playoffs, but this has to shake confidence. This a superb Indian bowling attack, but can the Proteas chase a 300 run total against any top attack.  We have the fire power, but do we have the nerve?

No, not once de Kock has lost his wicket early in the innings.

Well once….de Kock went second ball against England and we put up the highest score ever against the Poms. We made a bad start with de Kock reverting to playing away from his body with a bat at 45 degrees….but this was more about timidity and ball movement. The guys looked as if they were planted in concrete.

We already qualified for the playoffs and will probably remain 2nd on the table...pity that we lost the way we did, but the loss is insignificant in the bigger picture.
