According to a recent report from Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are interested in bringing James Milner back to the club.
The Liverpool midfielder is set to be available on a free transfer this summer with his current contract expiring in June. However, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly wanting to keep him at Anfield, there could be a few interesting months of negotiation ahead.
Milner was a fan favourite during his stint at Villa Park and now, with Steven Gerrard continuing to try and build the Midlanders’ squad, the veteran may well become a featured part of their starting XI – or, at the very least, a great squad rotation player.
Villa aren’t going to be pushing for Europe this season but if they can have a strong transfer window when the campaign comes to an end, they’ll position themselves nicely for the 2022/23 season – which could bring with it some really interesting developments.
