In what could turn out to be a crucial meeting at the foot of the Premier League table, Leeds will make the trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, despite heading into March’s international break with a much-needed 2-1 win away at Southampton, Watford came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Eventually hit with a 2-0 loss away at title contenders Liverpool, Roy Hodgson’s men are at the heart of a relegation scrap. Sat three points adrift of safety and with many tipping the Hornets to make an immediate Championship return, the one-time England boss has failed to offer much of a boost since arriving at Vicarage Road. Including a dreadful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Wolves on March 10th, Watford have recorded just a single Premier League victory since the middle of February. Likewise, it should also be highlighted that Saturday’s hosts have remarkably lost each of their previous eight straight contests on home soil.
As for the visitors, while Leeds might have had to settle for a single point at home against Southampton when making their return from the international break last week, the Whites are enjoying a welcomed boost. Heading into March’s fortnight break with back-to-back 3-2 and 2-1 victories against Wolves and Norwich, new boss Jesse Marsch has seen his side gain plenty of praise. Pushing their way away from any potential relegation scrap, Saturday’s guests should be smelling the chance to lay down a marker in the capital. Mustering seven points from their last three Premier League contests, they should also be boosted by their most recent meeting against the Hornets. Picking up a 1-0 win when they welcomed Watford to Elland Road back in October, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
