The Congo is playing a tight defense, but as the match goes on the Poms are getting more shots on goal. A familiar pattern in the Round of 32. England still in with an even chance, but a Congo goal against the run of play could be fatal.

Another absorbing knockout.

And Harry Kane carries England on his back into the round of 16….a header and a superb shot out of a log jam of defenders. What a player. As a youngster at Tottenham we knew he was something special…..as the commentator said….he is Sir Harry Kane. His leadership when England was down, energizing and encouraging the players, was obvious.

I’ve got a lot to catch up on, but I’m glad to see some energy in the England team, even if it’s still far from what’s needed to win the World Cup. First, they needed a win—winning builds confidence and trust, and hopefully this is the kickstart they’ve been waiting for.
