15 Day Martial Law lockdowns

The UK had something like 20,000 cases the other day.

Something I have never seen the scientists recommend is a 15 extreme lockdown. 

Given the virus has a life span of fewer than 14 days, it would be a quick way to reduce R rate.

Having an extreme lockdown of 14 days, 2-3 times per year would be more effective than long lockdowns, that many people choose not to follow anyway. It would be easier for businesses to manage 6 weeks spread over 1 year. 

With martial law, they could enforce the lockdown. Food deliveries could even be taken over by the army, to try to ensure people do not need to leave their homes.

2 weeks locked at home is tough, but it would save more lives and do less damage to the economy. It would be easier to implement in first world countries. 

This would reduce R-rate and allow for effective contact tracing by identifying new cases, and who these people have been in contact with. (typically same house, building, set of flats etc). 

If the vaccine was ready, the army and police could take it to prevent them being mass spreaders- along with the medical staff.

No western country can mimic China when it comes to a hard lockdown...and that didn't stop it...herd immunity and treating the worst cases is the way to go...this can't be contained...have you learned nothing yet?

The government has allowed it's citizens to recklessly spread this virus, especially in the UK

It is disgusting how some people are treating this like it's nothing..... but then taking it back with them, to kill their elderly parents or aunts and uncle

The scenes in Liverpool lately are just pathetic, and show exactly what little respect is being offered towards other people who could easily be killed by this virus

You can send people home for 3 weeks and they will comply...extend it for a few weeks, you'll lose a few, but most will still comply, but if you extend that to months, unless people start dropping dead in the streets, people will start going on with their normal lives. 

The South African government went too far with some of our lockdown regulations...it will probably be impossible to enforce a second strict lockdown should it become necessary. 

My doctor told me that any lockdown to try and stop/curb a pandemic should be at least 42 days...6 weeks...apparently Virology 101 stuff...so the 15 day pipe dream sounds like BS anyway...matial law nogal...Stalin would be so proud.

Shark, maybe you should try to understand what you read before calling people you don't even know stupid...I'm no virologist, but would wager that your infantile simplistic view is way off base...I'll rather go with what the doctors say on these things, thank you.

There is some consensus amongst doctors, but there will always be outliers such as Trump's witch doctor, and that moron he found for the task force- Scott Atlas.

Go ask your doctor about it then...BTW, it was confirmed by a few other doctors too...and we have excellent doctors in South Africa...and Scott Atlas is not a medical practitioner...
