I had a great friend who jumped off the deck of the Oklahoma in Pearl Harbor ....and flew off carriers for the rest of the war.  He passed a few years back but I doubt he would be too impressed with turning that tragedy into a political statement.

..........

On 7 December 1941, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, several torpedoes from torpedo-bomber airplanes hit the Oklahoma's hull and the ship capsized. A total of 429 crew died; survivors jumped off the ship 50 feet (15 m) into burning hot water or crawled across mooring lines that connected Oklahoma and Maryland. Some sailors inside escaped when rescuers drilled holes and opened hatches to rescue them.

.........

All that carnage happened and all you take from it is another way to get Trump?

Three other chaps I have known who fought in the Pacific included a former boss who piloted landing craft in the Pacific Island invasions....a driver who was a flame thrower in the Korean War another deadly dangerous role and a close colleague who got hit with a bullet in Vietnam inches from his heart.

These men, who actually were there,  would never use their experiences to measure others. They are  sober and humble about their service.

When the landing craft pilot died there was a full marine contingent at his memorial. The marines understand what it all means.

Ever since his election defeat was  declared he's displayed only two emotions ......... rage & denial ........  at his latest rally he apparently never even mentioned the pandemic.

Capitalism as a competition and Democracy could be coming to an end in America. Trump is a symptom of the problem, not the cause. Americans are disillusioned, so much so they will vote for anyone that is not the typical politician. They are not voting for Trump, they are voting against the system.

The US has big tech which ensures many of the top 20 richest people live in the US, but the average salary in the US is lower than many first world countries.
Many politicians, in particular Republicans, are bribed by corporates. The system is rotting within. The richest are getting richer, and most are getting poorer.
It is monopoly capitalism, not competitive capitalism .

"Americans are disillusioned, so much so they will vote for anyone that is not the typical politician."

Maybe, any of the other Democrat candidate pretenders would have won the election if they'd won the Democrat nomination. Biden as I've previously stated did not win the election, Trump lost it. 80m Americans are gatvol with a system that's big on promise but doesn't deliver.

For once I agree with Moz, Pearl Harbor had nothing to do with Trump, he wasn't even born when it happened and shouldn't be used a political weapon to attack him. There is plenty of other legit things you can attack him on, this isn't one of them.

Who is blaming Bozo for Pearl Harbour?

Dense has used the anniversary of Pearl Harbour to draw attention to Bozo's draft-dodging, Cloudy pointed out that more people have died from the Trumpvirus under Bozo's watch than died at Pearl Harbour and I've made the point that all those brave men who died at Pearl Harbour (and other wars) are the same people that Bozo calls losers and suckers.

No-one is suggesting Bozo is to blame for Pearl Harbour . . . we're just agreeing that he's a reprehensible coward who doesn''t give a toss abou t anyone's life other than his own and who has no respect for fallen soldiers. We're not attacking him for Pearl Harbour, we're attacking him for a being a draft-dodging coward, someone who continues to downplay the Trumpvirus while hundreds of thousands of people are dying from it and for calling dead American war heroes losers and suckers.

People I know  who have met McCain think he was a double dealing, very self serving man. These aren’t Trump people just establishment people who are reliable and have had dealings with him.

Trump and McCain had a bad relationship. Why? Because McCain was deeply involved in the discredited dossier....Trump had every reason to dislike the back stabbing.

People I know.......who have dealt with Trump think amongst other things that he's a liar, a bully and a self serving control freak who's bitterly divided America and is regarded as the catalyst for destroying many a friendship.

The meme which is freely available on the net depicts Trump as a cowardly draft dodger who avoided the draft with the fake excuse of a bone spur, the meme in no shape or form holds Trump responsible for Pearl Harbour. To suggest anything other is a blatant lie.

That said I will try to remove the meme.

John McCain will be remembered  as a war hero, had the respect of both parties and was given a state funeral with previous presidents across both parties in attendance.....solid proof in what high esteem he was held. Trump's comments on the honorable John McCain was disgraceful.

".....your views of him are all from the media and never questioned."

Actually no, my views are the views of 80mil. Americans who waved Trump Hasta La Vista. But thanks for insulting me for being brainwashed just as I was with my rejection of Apartheid, something you never objected to......was that because you were brainwashed?

The "people you know".....is a play on your words........the "people you know" is just another typical attempt to  emphasise your self importance.. No I don't know and care about the "people you know".......not on an insignificant rugby message  board.

Not satisfied that I've removed the meme are you?

Didn't think you would be, your response  is just another one of your BS attempts to start one of your never ending arguments. Guess Mike is stale material these days huh?

So c arry on with your threats and insults......you've been looking for an excuse to unleash them, perhaps now you've found justification to do so. Hahaha

I will not be intimidated.

Oh dear.....people I know are simply people I know who have first hand experiences with McCain. I attach no value  to it, it’s simply factual.

So we come back to your Apartheid ‘heroism’....great, pat yourself on the back again and play the victim. That’s your main thing isn’t it.

Get the point I'm making or are you going to feint another Wooosh and divert.

No matter, I've seen enough of you to know that I'm wasting my time, besides what does it matter to me what you think. "People I know".....yes well, my friends in the USA are people I know but I guess the "people you know" are from a higher class huh? And for that reason we should all sit up and take note.

Mikey's next door. I don't enjoy Control Freaks.

CYA I have a life.

No I never said that....you’re a bit of a liar aren’t you.  But either the people you know have had direct experiences with Trump or not. I’m betting that was another lie and you haven’t even met somebody who has met somebody who has met Trump. What else is a lie Denny?

Still no point in pretending is there....you simply can’t tolerate somebody who thinks Trump has had a successful presidency. The sense of inadequacy is that strong....hilarious really, living in a never ending Groundhog Day, seeing Apartheid villains everywhere. Meanwhile the country implodes under the people you championed from the safety of Australia.

Oh yes you did......I remember it very well. Put that aside for the moment because you said it on a former board going back quite a few years. So then, did you go flying around with the powers that be at the time? It's a yes or a no....just answer the question. I mean really, you've always let it be known like you've done here that you only move in the highest of circles.

"Still no point in pretending is there....you simply can’t tolerate somebody who thinks Trump has had a successful presidency."

Psssst Numbers don't lie..... 80 million Americans is a lot of "pretenders."

Eat your crow bitterbal.

Addendum: Tell me, why is it so important to you that I dislike Trump? Its never been important to me whether you like him. Do you believe I owe it to you to like him?

No complete rubbish....I have never said that or even implied that. My world is strictly corporate, I went to Washington only when necessary. I know some of the players for various reasons, mostly because friends asked me to a dinner or an event.

I certainly don’t consider politics to be the ‘highest circle’. I personally experienced a top Democrat back in the 90s threatening us to rehire his son in law who we had fired....we told him to shove it. And another name you’d recognize was constantly trying to get access to our corporate jets.

These people talk one game and live another.

And you’re under another misapprehension I don’t give a toss whether you like Trump or not, it’s the petty, dishonest way you do it  that defines you, not Trump.

"......it’s the petty, dishonest way you do it  that defines you, not Trump."

Really?

And you're honest  and so is Trump......and you don't like Liars Hmmm? and neither you and Trump have ever told a dirty little lie Hmmmm?

I see.

And another by the way.....it was never about the meme was it? It's as I've said.....settle....it's not what I'm alluding to, naaah get over it, you're not all BS....even though it sounds that way.....but a thanks as a show of respect for deleting it would have reflected a fair bit of sincerity.

In a strange way I'm grateful to Donnie for opening my blind sighted eye....very gratetul.

Have a fat evening.

I can’t even figure out what all that gibberish means.....act like a man for heaven sake and stop whining. Stop being the victim....stop identifying everybody who disagrees with you as a racist.......stop believing everything they feed you, open your...er....’blind sighted eye’.

The truth is always far more nuanced.

"thanks for insulting me for being brainwashed just as I was with my rejection of Apartheid, something you never objected to......was that because you were brainwashed?"

Just read all this.

Hey, wasn't there a referendum to end apartheid?

Oh that's right, whites voted to end it.

Now how do you know which people in here voted for or against it, tannie ?

Quite a pity to see tante scraping the barrel like this. She used to be an upstanding member of the community.

Right now she's devolved into an unhinged loon that keeps a race card ever handy.
